Internet Multiplayer - "the username you have entered is not valid"

Problem playing online here.

I've gone to gamespyid.com and created a new username for myself (Andrew_Jay), and verified it through the e-mail they sent me.

However, now in Civ4 when I try to login, it won't let me.

Am I supposed to have Gamespy Arcade installed? Do I login with my e-mail address (like I do to login to Gamespy)?

Any help is really appreciated.
