Internet's not working-even though it's connected?!!!

My internet connection/computer has a weird habit. Basically, it stops working (even though it's still connected). When the computer is restarted, then the connection works fine again. Any simple reason why? I'd put specs and all, but I'm not much of an internet person, so I wouldn't know what to say. Unless I'm told to...

Both. It comes through a cable to an exterior modem, which connects to a router, which connects to the computer(with a cable). So both, I guess.

When your network goes down again:
Open Control Panel-> Network Connections.
There you will see you networking options. Select the Local Area Connection. Most likely this will show an red x indicating a broken connection to the router. It may also display a yellow triangle if it can reach the router but not the internet. Right click and select "Status". On the second page there should be a repair command. That should fix the problem just like restarting would.

As for diagnosing the problem itself, the easiest way would probably be for you to post here the output of the shell command "ipconfig /all", next time it goes down.

And the repair thing doesn't work. Some times it says there's nothing wrong, other times it says there are too many netwroks-even though there's only one.

Well you're showing about 30 connection options, so that must be what's confusing it. I don't know why your network would be set up that way. You can try "ipconfig /renew *53*" and "ipconfig /renew *52*", or just "ipconfig /renew". But that's still a temporary solution.

Is there a difference in the results of "ipconfig /all" when the network is not down?
