Iowa Class BB

We understand but your stuff is so amazing it makes it hard to wait! :D

SnafuSmith, that's not cool teasing a fellow USAF member. Share or else...

Also... GeneralMatt... don't think for one minute this lets you off the hook... that's a WWI sub... and while anything is better then the short-stubby-fat default Sub from Firaxis (that needs to lay-off the fatty foods), I still would prefer a proper WWII U-Boat of the Type VIIC variety... so you better get to work Matt!

:p

Yeah, the problem for me is that at the moment I cannot do my own animations, and have the stuff on my list need them. And then I feel bad if I go too far down my list and skip too many.
So I am not sure what exactly to get to next.. Either..

Camanche
Puma (Choppers)
A modern type frigate
Wasp landing craft
Graf Zeppelin
U-Boat Type VIIC

Let me help put it in order for you in order of need...

1) U-Boat Type VIIC
2) Graf Zeppelin
3-6) Doesn't really matter...

:p

Very nicely done, generalmatt.

I'd like to second wolfshanze's list, & add:

3. A modern type frigate
4. Wasp class LHD

:)

Ok, will be done something like that. Though I did think of one thing that needs to be done first..

Unfortunately no.. It is another small project I acquired, but unless you are a Sci Fi fan I doubt you will be drooling. It is a secret though..

But that should not take long, it is a lot easier than I originally thought..

Nice job General with this ship ! :D Really well made !

Thank you. :)

You'd be surprised how big a sci-fi fan I am... so long as that sci-fi unit you work on is a dead-ringer for a German Type-VIIC U-Boat! ;)

Okay people... compromise time.

GM, make an explorer unit wearing Captain James T. Kirk's uniform that arrives in a cigar-shaped spaceship which looks like U-501. Problem solved. :D ;)

So Matt... when are you going to do a model of the real USS Iowa?

The thing I am working on is so simple I might actually get to start on whatever is next, we will see. ;)

 I actually do not know much about Sci Fi, just a conversion of a few models for a guy..

Wolfshanze: If you are serious.. :p
maybe someday..

I am serious, but not as serious as I am about a U-Boat and the Graf Zeppelin.

Basically, I'm serious whenever it's for a unit that we could use that we don't have a unit for or one that would pass for it.

Frankly, if you were going to spend design time doing the USS Iowa, I really would rather you have done the Pre-Dreadnought version which we had no model for, then the WWII version which Firaxis actually provided a half-decent model for.

I'm always big on getting something new that we don't have, over yet another version of something we already have. Don't get me wrong... I'm all for making better models of existing work, so long as we have no other holes to fill that the time could be better spent on.

For instance... I hope nobody is planning on doing a USS Nimitz carrier over a Graf Zeppelin carrier. :p

Or... I hope nobody is planning on doing a short-fat ugly Type-II U-Boat over a long, sleek Type VIIC U-Boat (that hideously ugly default Firaxis sub might pass for a Type-II U-Boat which even the Germans thought were so ugly they didn't use them in the war for shizzy).

So yes... my General Matt wish-list still goes as follows...

1) U-Boat VIIC
2) Graf Zeppelin Carrier
3) USS Iowa (the cool looking one)

How's that for a formal request... yes, I'd like the USS Iowa... but it's not on the top of my list... I just hope you decide to do the USS Iowa instead of the USS Nimitz.

Ok, requests taken and noted. :) I understand our thinking, but a lot of what I do is for specific scenarios and mods and such. I get request and model them. I think your time in the USAF has gotten you totally against wasting time. :p Don't take me wrong, that is good though, most of the time.

On the Nimtz, no, I have never been asked to, and either way the Graf Zepplin, Wasp modern day cargo thing, maybe even the old Iowa would come first. The hard thing with any ship from that era though is the almost total lack of blueprints, and that makes it hard, believe me.

And if you still think you want a VIIC on top of the III Snafu is doing, i can do that...

Actually, I'm planning on making a UB Class Uboat.

Sounds good, can hardly wait. ;)

Yes... I'd still like the Type VIIC U-Boat, even with Snafu doing a UBIII U-Boat... you have to remember that Snafu is doing WWI Subs... I'd still prefer THE PREMIER German sub of WWII... the one that carried the war on it's back... the Type VIIC... no other sub has been produced in such numbers as the Type-VIIC and more men died on them then you'd believe.

The losses suffered by the U-Boat service were high and of 1,158 Boats in service, 662 were lost, 3 captured, 155 surrendered and 242 scuttled. There were 40,000 men who served in U Boats during the war and 20,000 of those did not return. Some 2,000 Allied ships were sunk by U Boats, which probably equates to some 20,000,000 gross registered tonnage.

I'll be happy to see Snafu's WWI subs... but I'd really like a good WWII sub for Germany. I can't believe those WWII people that pushed you for "yet another" Iowa battleship don't want a good WWII sub!?!?!

Not even a Gato class US sub?

Oh, no one was pushing for "another" Iowa, Gaius asked me back a few months ago for both versions.

But yes, that sub will be on the list. :) Might even start it now..
There certainly is a greater need for subs, just playing Silent Hunter 3 for the short time it was lent to me was eye opening..

Oh, no one was pushing for "another" Iowa, Gaius asked me back a few months ago for both versions.

I was all excited when I saw the thread title "Iowa Class BB"... because I just knew Matt wouldn't do a model we already had but a new model of BB4.

Well if you're into making multiple versions of the Iowa, don't forget the Pre-Dreadnought version... for "yet another Iowa"! :p

P.S.
If you want to do "yet another" US WWII Battleship, you might try going for the Pennsylvania class... aka: the USS Arizona!
