I constructed an Ironworks last night in one of my cities expecting to see a massive boost in production upon completion. To my dismay I believe there was no boost in production! My question is this, the Ironworks is supposed to give a 50% boost in production with coal and a 50% boost in production with iron. Do the Coal and Iron resources need to be within the workable area of the city where the Ironworks is located or can it just be anywhere in your empire that is connected to your road network with the appropriate resource improvement? Help!

Anywhere that's connected, which will show Iron and Coal in the resources lists in the city screen of the Ironworks city - if, of course, they are indeed connected to that city. The extra production shows if you mouse over the production bar, but for some reason it's as additional production "from resources", not "from Ironworks". And I hope you haven't built your National Park in that city, which removes access to Coal.

Skdyer-

I remember this happening to me. Did know the reason, didn't examine it further I just have built Ironworks in cities with iron or coal with-in the city limits.

Having the resources within the city's BFC is not important. If the city has no access to iron or coal via trade with other cities/empires, however, ironworks will only make your city less healthy.

To my dismay I believe there was no boost in production! My question is this, the Ironworks is supposed to give a 50% boost in production with coal and a 50% boost in production with iron.

Keep in mind that these bonuses only affect your base Hammer production, you don't get a boost from things like a Forge. So you may not see a large increases in your production simply by having it in a city, especially if that city is fairly low on base Hammers to begin with. In the right location though it certainly will make a difference.

So is this a bug? I noticed that on the F1 screen which shows the summary table of all your cities, the impact of the Ironworks on the hammers is NOT shown! What the hell? Don't all other beaker, wealth, hammer bonuses caused by city improvements and specialists, settle great people etc show on the F1 screen? That is really frustrating.

I believe that the communication is not the clearest it could.

First try to hover over the production progress bar in the city in which you built ironworks: if it says "+50% from resources" or "+100% from resources", then you have respectively one or two of coal/iron. In the latter case, everything is all right.

If not, provide us either a save of your game or a screenshot of the city, with the list of buildings showing the ironworks and the mouse over the production bar.

Right, right. So sorry. I was not clear. I realize now that the impact of the Ironworks on the production can be viewed as JujuLautre has indicated, however what I am taking issue with now is the fact that the impact of the Ironworks on the hammers can NOT be seen from the F1 summary table screen. That to me is a bug. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'm not sure what it is you're talking about...but i just wanted to say that building wonders with Ironworks in your capital under bureaucracy with Huayna Cupac PWNZORZ yeayyy
