irritating diplo comments

The two that really annoy me are:

1. "Looks good to me" when you are trying to trade off excess horses etc. and the AI offers...nothing. Why can't it just have a "sorry, not interested" reply? In a recent game Japan had no iron (bear that in mind - Japan), and Siam (yes Siam) had just DOW them. I happened to have plenty and thought it looked like a good opportunity for trade. They had cash. They needed iron badly. Tried a trade and got the above - aaarrrggghhh! makes no sense.

2. "Things are not going well...." i.e. can I have a bunch of your gold/luxes etc.? As if! Perhaps they could also try "Things are not going well....can I have your capital city please?"

What is your personal "favourite"?

The one that goes along the lines "I'm sorry, I've just been informed that my army has been attacking a City-State under your protection..."

Me: "Well screw you Gustav, leave Monaco alone."

Gustav: "I remain confident that I have done the right choice for my people."

So... it was your choice after all, Gustav, not just some hyperactive general officer's. Really subtle.

yes, it would be great if you could then reply "...and that's why I'm coming to get you - still seem like a good choice?"

As an aside, I think you should get significantly increased diplo with other CS if you are seen to actually protect the ones that you swore to - and vice versa (I'm looking at you Siam!)

CS influence is far too easy to gain and keep anyway with the addition of ideologies Freedom and Autocracy. I hope it would be as easy to degrade.

The denunciation comments are so lame. "It's time I let the whole world know of your evil ways." Look, if you feel threatened by me, just say so, don't give a bogus generic reason like that.

"With your blue jeans and pop music ..............."

"Uh I am egypt and I am getting all my tourism from the church buildings ? , what are these blue jeans you are nattering on about and i am sure dave from argentina just said the same thing ?"

The first time I heard "blue jeans and pop music", I thought it was because I was Freedom (and capitalism is how democracy has, recently, overthrown its opponents). I actually expected there to be similar lines for Order (Our people now want to be a part of your workers' paradise) and Autocracy (Our people are looking for your strong leadership to unite us all). However, even if those were in, that message gets old very quickly.

The worst part? The AI doesn't really care. Sure, they point out in the message that they're worried about my culture overwhelming them but they don't lift a proverbial finger to stop it.

It irks me that that is the only line they have, and that it is so specific to American culture. Surely they could have written something more generic that could apply to any culture, like "My people are all watching your movies and listening to your music" or "Your decadent culture has taken hold of my civilization".

"I've noticed that your borders are quite puny. Did they forget to expand or something?"

Me: "Oh yes, it appears you are right. It seems my borders always forget to expand when I am going for a cultural victory. WHY DO YOU SUPPOSE THAT IS, HMMMM?!?!?"

Quite ironically, I was mocked because of my small size by Oda Nobunaga in my last Venice game... which ended with 5 of his cities flipping to me, making me the largest nation in the world by area.

I also annoys me espacially when Naopleon asks me this kind of deal, due to the sentence he says: "La France t'offre cette proposition exceptionnelle", which could be translated by "France makes you this exceptional deal"

Does he? I thought leaders were patched to be silent when begging. Or am I confusing this with something else now...

Yeah, and I hate when it happens the same turn you just improved your (same) second luxury. They know to be punks sometimes.

altho, if you give it to them for free, they will return next time and buy it from you. So, if say, you had a start with three of the same luxury (which can happen often), sometimes it's not a bad idea to give one for free. (especially if other AI has the same luxury as you)

My favorite? Not really a "comment" but I just adore when AI wants RA with all the extras, then gets into the same era as me the very next turn.

Yeah, I usually get "You're armies are blah blah". I don't think AI takes into consideration TYPE of unit, just size of the army. Bombers vs Cannons, it won't end up well for AI.

I absolutely hate it when I get insulted by civs ("bloodthirsty one", "puny one", etc.). Especially when I've always been nice to them. It blows my stack.

Many a civ has been reduced to evaporated dust due to me being called "bloodthirsty" by its leader. You simply don't insult a leader who has the bomb while you're still knocking rocks together!

I guess that proves the accuracy of the AI. :crazyeye:

When the AI begs and there near the top of the score board or extremely powerful.
