Is anything more obnoxious than the rolleyes?

when the rolleyes turn up, you can't argue against them. that is the reason to why they're annoying.

"and the ladies, they rolled their eyes."

This

is more offensive than the rolleyes smiley.

Not again.. :p

This whole thread derves a big...

Yeah, I don't like the suicide smiley very much either...

Dear Sultan: If you really dislike dismissive reposnes, then you should not deal with persons who either are or (much more common) think they are much superior to you; otherwise, you will recieve dismissive responses. Fat chance, though, on finding any LARGE group without at least a few in the latter category. Ego is abundantly available the internet where few real world consequences land to trim it.
In any case your history of flaming outbursts here does make make you a more credible spokesman for respectful orderly discourse. Do you not judge that flaming is worse than dismissiveness?

Me, FLAME?
I don't think I flame very often, honestly. Yes I used to rant about Bush like everybody else who isn't pulling down six figures ought to... and I did once really let a certain poster have it for advocating child beating, but I don't really employ the flame technique that much. None the less, I think dismissiveness is sort of worse than flaming. When some poster/mod flames somebody, it is a sign that they got ticked off, that the poster's words made an impact, and that if enough brain cells had been brought to the front lines, a debate would be raging. The rolleyes is often used as an attempt to cut block/discredit the poster, not a response but an "irresponse". Dismissiveness is much ruder than just outright insulting- outright insulting actually discredits the insulter.

I think, for once, Sultan has a point.

There we go - credit and a flame in the same sentence. :p

*Chieftess shakes her head*... SB and AoA... spamming eachother... :p

I've seen the sheep...

I've used the mutant to indicate that I thought somebody had a completely out of whack philosophy or idea (really the same situation alot of people roll eyes)... the sheep is the most incongruous and wierd of the smilies, don't know where I would use that. The cross eyes appears in Becka's signature to great effect, good to indicate a goofy joke...
