Is BTS Worth it?

From playing my game, when you hover the icon over a spy while picking something to build in your city, it says in the sids tips paragraph that spies can help thwart enemy spies.

I'd say definitely. As for bugs, I'm not convinced they're any worse than vanilla/Warlords, and with the unofficial patch it's near enough bug free as far as i'm concerned.

Considering how cheap it can be found for, I cant really see why not.

It's more Civ, you silly silly person

Just wondering if, overall, BTS is worth the purchase and upgrade.

I'm pretty happy with Warlords, but I could upgrade if it's worth it.

However, I've heard BTS is still very buggy.
The implementation of Corporations concerns me as well.
And the fact that the lead designer left for another company makes me nervous too.

For those of you who have purchased it, was it worth it?

Should I wait for a more stable, less buggy version?

The main reason BTS is worth it...THE MODS!

There are so many mods currently being worked on and updated with BTS compatibility. Get BTS from ebay for a good price, give it a try. I promise you won't be dissapointed. Nevermind what the naysayer give about it.

And also, the unofficial 3.13 patch addresses most anything you'd have issues with until they release the next official patch.

It's great.:)

In the BTS version prior to the patch, was there a bug where every civ would start to declare war on you all at once out of the blue and gang up on you, even the ones you were diplomaticly frendly with? (This is also with alot of defensive units present in your empire.)

If the Apostolic Palace is a bug, then yeah. It's still there.

From what I have heard BtS is a huge boost in comparison with Warlords. Since I don't have it myself, I can only speculate. It looks promising though ;)

The graphics are very cool. I got it about two weeks ago and honestly after a few hours, I put Warlords back in. However I do like BTS but it is just a whole lot of new stuff and is gonna take some getting used too. Like someone else said, its pretty cheap so I recomment getting it. The whole espinoage thing is a bit over the top, but again you might like it.

That's not what I mean. I would have 1 civ that was "friendly" towards me sneak attack me while I was at war with another civ, and then 2 turns later another civ just like that would decide to attack me regardless of how much diplomacy I had built up with that civ. Religoun also never played a factor because I was on Free Religoun. And like I said, the DOWs were a few turns apart each.

How many negative modifiers did you have with those civs? In other words, you say you "built up" diplomacy with them, but how much negative had you built up as well?

You can have all kinds of trade modifiers and other dip bonuses, but if you've been at war with them in the past or have a lot of other negatives, then that'll sometimes cause them to go to war also.

Anyway are we just talking about one game here or has it happened multiple times?

Just one game and I had never declared war on those civs. I had only declared war on 1 civ the entire game and it was a Civ that had plenty of negative modiers with most other AI players from what I could see on the glance screen. It was until a lot later in the game AFTER that that they all suddenly just started to declare war on me out of the blue left and right and gang up. The status on those other civs were "friendly" with 1 and "pleased" with all the others before they DOW absolutely random. It was almost like playing an entire game against 15 psychopath Montezuma's only he wasn't any where in this game.

It was just one game, but then it was also my only game. Even more I noticed during that game that the battle graphics were all buggy. It would show a unit dying but then say that unit won the battle. It's hard to describe, but it was messed up.

I have got the patch and now I am giving it another try.

Just one game
Then I'd chalk it up to a coincidence. The AIs do queue up a "planned war" and AFAIK they don't consult each other when they do so. So it seems both possible and within the realm of believability that multiple AIs would do this at close to the same time, once every couple thousand games. You just won the lottery, that's all. ;)

Definitely you're having issues the patch will fix. Did you get the unofficial patch as well? Good idea to do so.

In one game I was wiped out by an angry Sumerian emperor who declared war on me at Friendly relations.

In short, if you're a hardcore Civ fan, than yes. But if you're not, then no.

I did and I started a new game. However I noticed that the "glance" screen under the foriegn advisor section was no longer there. Did they completely get rid of this? I thought it was useful to just look at a quick chart and see all the -/+ modifers of each civ to one another.
