well this is something that Call To Power did VERY well ... they had servers so u could get a multiplay game going within minutes ... very dumbed down and VERY easy ... if u had AI players anyone could just join in a game that was going ..... and if u dropped out then the AI would just take over your civ and u could reconnect and take back control of your civ ... u could put time limits based on the amount of cities u had, arbatery time limits or no time limits ... and u could do your diplomacy and checking your citys for production and whatnot between your turns ... this is 1 aspect of CTP that was done VERY well indeed ... pity the game just sucked
Alpha Centuri had the worst servers possably for any multiplay game ever but was damn good on a LAN as u had the option of having similtainious turns ... speeding up the game SOOOO much .. perhaps this is why multiplay wasnt included in civ3?? "they" figgured no one played AC on the net (due to horribly unstable servers) so no one would want to play civ3 on the net
