Is Civ3 without mp is a "flawed" game?

Is the lack of MP a big loss for Civ III?

well this is something that Call To Power did VERY well ... they had servers so u could get a multiplay game going within minutes ... very dumbed down and VERY easy ... if u had AI players anyone could just join in a game that was going ..... and if u dropped out then the AI would just take over your civ and u could reconnect and take back control of your civ ... u could put time limits based on the amount of cities u had, arbatery time limits or no time limits ... and u could do your diplomacy and checking your citys for production and whatnot between your turns ... this is 1 aspect of CTP that was done VERY well indeed ... pity the game just sucked

Alpha Centuri had the worst servers possably for any multiplay game ever but was damn good on a LAN as u had the option of having similtainious turns ... speeding up the game SOOOO much .. perhaps this is why multiplay wasnt included in civ3?? "they" figgured no one played AC on the net (due to horribly unstable servers) so no one would want to play civ3 on the net

Civ 3 is a flawed game with or without MP.

I personally couldn't care less about MP.

Hehe. At it again, I see. So did you gain any new insights up on the mountain that you have come to share with us?

I played Spades online but even that wasn't without problems. My guess is that Civ3 MP would need the rest of my life for one single game. I'd like a better A.I.

They will probally think of something to speed up the game. If they can get it to remotely resonable speed, then MP is the way to go, unless of course you like the "cpu" foes. The game must be focused on the civs, the nations, etc.

I agree with Reichmarshal, in that MP works well when you try it. Players don't take forever(25 minutes or more) usually to take their turn.

There is one thing that I find very strange is that people say they don't like complaints about the lack of multiplayer, then they proceed to complain/trash about the way multiplayer will be horrible, when indeed it is not.
