Meanwhile, the DLC train continues along at full speed, nickel-and-diming players for content that should have been included from the beginning. I'd be happy to pay for a full-blown expansion, but this DLC crap is a rip off. It's clear that 2K's priority is not to improve the game, because there's no money there.

Buy it when it is 66% or 75% off like I did. $1.5 per DLC should be a good price for anyone, excepting the Cradle maps.

I like Civ 5. There are also things that I really dislike, like roads costing maintenance! The tactical combat is really interesting, even with the weak AI. But I am guessing my opinion will be different from someone who has 300+ hours of playtime ;)

I know what you mean you have to use mods to enjoy it. Most people use several mods to try to have fun. That will get much better with the launch of the .dll The game is dead until they finish it.

I've gotten so used to using two of them (Echos of Ages and Building Upgrades) that I don't play without them now. Those two seem to work quite well for me for any civ I choose to play.

I need to spend a bit more time on Civilization Nights mod. I've started a few games with it and kind of understand how it is to be used, but I haven't spent a lot of time on it. Civ Nights really changes the whole freaking game. LOL

And you're right, at least as far as I'm concerned, playing a vanilla game just isn't as interesting or fun as when you load up a few mods.

IMO without further enhancements to game play, AI, Diplomacy, less depth in terms of leaders, spies/sabotage, very little micromanagement etc. The game is getting very boring. and the DLC''s offering civs like Spain etc. are pretty much an insult as they should have been in the game from the start.

Too bad Firaxis didn't add from Civilization IV then add a little Pride of Nations when making Civ V.

User reviews

Positive: 91 out of 227 Mixed: 43 out of 227 Negative: 93 out of 227 This tells me a lot of people do not think it is all that great, but probably most play it still. Almost half of the reviews by users are NEGATIVE! That tells me this game needs major work.

Shogun 2 Total War User Score 8.2 out of 10 Generally favorable reviews

Positive: 129 out of 160 Mixed: 13 out of 160 Negative: 18 out of 160 Only 18 out of 160 dislike Shogun 2. This shows me that popularity is not everything. Users love this game, hands down, no one is crying for it to be fixed, because IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE FIXED LIKE CiV DOES! Also not one critic gave Shogun 2 a bad review. However, I don't trust the critics, the users opinions are the important opinions.

See my point there you have it in black and white!

The problem with your point is all those reviews are probably from release. And we all know how horrible V:s release was.
So, after over a year of immense patching, your point can't be relevant.

Nothing has changed much so yes it is very relevant. You have to fix what is wrong for it not to be relevant, they have not done that. If you actually play the game you should know! And the thing that does not make sense about your point is that its okay for Creative Assembly to put out a finished game while Firaxis does not have to. Firaxis gets to rely on so called, "lazy we don't know how to finish a game sympathy!" No it does not work that way. They should learn to finish what they've started and release a finished product. In other words sir, they should not need immense patching. On top of that the immense patching did no good, except for perhaps minor improvement.

Immense patching what a laugh! Come on I was not born yesterday!
