is civ5 still completely mouseable like civ 4?

these boards are VERY active. im surprised. do you think i should keep my civ4dvd. or was it a dumb buy seeing how civ 5 is around the corner and steam only? i just found out today that civ 5 is coming out. as i type on this forum.

Personally... While I loved Civ IV, even though I'm not very good at it, At this time since 5 is only 7 days away, if it were me, I would indeed return 4 and wait for 5.

5 is said to be released both in stores as well as steam, direct2drive etc.

Heck, after watching yesterdays 2 hour gameplay, I can't even load Civ 4 anymore I'm so looking forward to 5 now.

Civ5 is a lot different from Civ4, not necessarily better. Don't forget the large number of mods released for Civ4, either, which give you a lot to do even when you mastered the original game.

And 5 is gonna be a hell of a lot more expensive :p

sports games, racing games...etc

You can't use a mouse for those? Again with the no personal experience, sports games are for consoles (or at least I think so) and I dislike racing games

@PrinceScamp: Key word: Default (Can you change it over to completely mouse, I have no idea (Never heard of that game))

The fact that civ 5 will most likely be "buggy", (civ 4 mods *should* be compatible with civ 5)
Mods are guaranteed to be incompatible - they changed programming languages, after all. Maps should be compatible, though.

Some racing games allow the mouse to be used to steer the vehicle as an alternative option, although obviously car racers etc would be better off with a wheel and pedals, and then joystick, then mouse and keyboard. On a large enough monitor and with wheel and pedal, car racing games are okay on a PC, which is still my preference for all gaming. I have a 360 that my wife got me for my christmas last year but I only play it when my body is hurting so bad that I can't sit up straight at the desk anymore and have to lay down on the sofa. In general I'm not a fan of console games as I always feel like I've lost some control but I make do with them in a pinch.

Is it weird that I used the mouse for unit movement in Civ4, but the keyboard for all other unit commands?

Sory, didn't think about that.
Makes me sad, now their will almost definitely be no RFC for civ 5:(
I was all upbeat before, citystates would do wonders for RFC, but... meh...

You can always incorporate the game changes into the game yourself. It would require effort, but it's not impossible. And you can change things along the way (the very fact that you were thinking about incorporating city-states means you know that change in game means change in how the mod works).

Last version I played, you can use the mouse for one or two things afaik, but its easier to use the keyboard.

It is one of the most amazing (and complicated, at least at first) games I have ever played, and its still in alpha with nowhere near half of its planned features implemented.

Personally I find it easier to use the keyboard in civ 4, but the point is you can use only the mouse.
