Is Civ6 worth it over Civ5?

Civ6 could have been great if polished. As it is though it's a mess and I feel it fell ill to the idea that simply adding more and more features will somehow make a great game rather than balancing a few of them. And it can't even be seriously modded afaik.

Ive been enjoying the community games of civ5 more and I think it's time I give VP another go soon.

Acken the Legend! I would love to see you post a Youtube series of Civ 5 Vox Populi. I would be interested to see how fast you could clear out a map of AIs.

I don't frequent game forums for games I dislike. I hope to continue having better things to do than telling people why the things they enjoy are inferior to what I enjoy.

And although I find VP enjoyable, I think I'll stay clear of those forums.

Good for you.

Those last 5%, the disgruntled and the nostalgic, have many other options, from Civ 1 to Civ5, so it's not that serious a concern.

I guess we are such a non-concern, that the only way to deal with us is to minimize our market share while name calling us.

No in VP it isn't. As I said before, and as a strong one-liner, VP combines the best of both civ 4 and civ 5 into one pack, plus a cunning AI. Civ 6 will never achieve that (unless same team starts working on Civ 6 VP, but they already said multiple times they "hate" civ 6, so no chances there...). In fact, civ 6 is the "joke" in the VP forums. Literally. We joke about it.

On the Civ2 forums, we don't run down or "joke" about later Civ iterations in slanderous ways - they just don't tend to come up in conversation...

Governors and their abilities would need to be reworked a bit. And there would still have to be limits to how many times you could select, say, Pingala. It would take some balancing, but done right, you’d be able to have a few of your Cities grow large and be useful, but not all of them, and you still want wide play for great people points / districts etc.
No argument that GS needs some tweaking. When modders have the same access as they ended up with in Civ 5, it will really blossom (IMO).
I just find the different POVs an endless source of hilarity.
What civs some find OP, others find weak.
Some complain that GS is too difficult, others that it is too easy by deliberate design choices.
Some love the random disasters, others whine about losing their favourite ponies to floods, some play with disasters set to max.
I just wish that escaping spies could knock over fruit barrows in markets. :)

Civ6 isn't much of a topic for VP players either since VP is still being worked on. There's just not much to take seriously whenever it is brought up since the AI, state of balance, and frequency of patches aren't well lauded aspects of Civ6, which are pretty much the biggest topics for VP in the community patch project forum.
I am guilty of some slandering though. Gotta have some fun when my hope on continuation across the series is dying.

Yeap, civ seems to be dying and some want to also kill the last "fun" thing to do about it: humor. Nope.

IF.

Sorry for the hurt I caused. I should have used "the less-than-gruntled" and "the wistful".:grouphug:

it is always personal, but i was a strong fan of civ 4 next war liked 5 latest add one , not as much as civ 4 next war, but f0or me civ 6 GS is best civ ever, i needs some tweeks and ofcourse i would like to see some changes, but that is due to personal preferance, we all ahve our own wishes, for me it is cruiseships more units better promotion system bigger maps, but i love civ 6 Gs i really think it is best civ ever so yes it is worth it
