Is it possible to....?

Unfortunately, Firaxis does not allow you to create new units. Another limitation to their Editor. We can't even create scenarios anymore!!

You have to replace an existing unit, although someone posted a program that apparently allows you to sort of hack into the game and create a new additional unit. I forget what thread that is in. It'll be a lot of work, though.

I want crusisers and crusaders back!

yeah, pressing that "Add" button is soo much work! why couldn't firaxis just create a magical editor which reads our minds and dose exactly what we want!
for 40$ i think we deserve one!

Hey, that's a ripping good idea! Magical, mind-reading editors would be a welcome addition to any future expansion packs.

Sarcasm is highly amusing.

With Gramphos' Civ3CopyTool in the utility section of the forum, adding a new unit is a piece of cake ;)

The tough part is to find/create a new animation for the new units. And I have to disagree on the part that adding a unit is hard. All you need to do is understand how the game work with unit graphics and folder. So Firaxis didn't release this info, but any hardcore mod maker would have to analyze why certain thing works and certain don't anyway even if a full editor is given.

Changing rules and what not is not as simple as clicking on a few buttons. The more important part is still the balancing issue which no editor in the world can help you on that. ;)

Given the current radio silence after 1.16 I fear it could be another $40 or €44 for:
- Real editor
- Multiplayer
- Real scoring system
- Real naval play
- Real solution for corruption
- Real .............

Please check the Add-on thread, it pretty much lists everything desirable, yet not available.

Hmmmmmmm...... Reminds me of some game. What was it? Oh yeah, civ2! If you don't remember, just for the scenario editor it was 30$ plus 30$ for multiplayer and 30$ for the game itself and 30$ if you wanted the other scenario disk and you had to wait for it to get patched 30 million times just to fix everything. Have we all forgotten this already?

This is actually rather rediculous. Firaxis and Infogames would have to be losing money because of it.

Consider the following situation. A person looking to buy a game.

They could buy Civ3 knowing that they will need to fork out at least half the cost again to get multiplayer capabilities and decent scenario support.

Or they could buy something like Empire Earth, knowing that they will get multiplayer capabilities and decent scenario support in the original package.

Or they could just download Civ3 and wait until a "Gold Edition" comes out, with everything included for the same price as the original, before they buy it.

They both cost me $100 Australian. Yet one may well end up costing considerably more than the other for the same equal feature set.

At this point in time, I do not regret having not downloaded Civ3 (as opposed to purchase).

I hope that doesn't change.

Why is it that anytime a simple question is asked, some people use that as another opportunity to gripe about the game. Geez, if it bothers you THAT much, get rid of it already!
