I have a 2200Mhz 1024 RAM 80 GB and a Geforce500 card

I play on Norms Giga Europe map with all the 16 civs Difficulty Monarch.

I solved the problem with slowdown between the turns simply by deleting all the barbarian camps on the map in civedit. When u play on Monarch or harder the faster barbarian camps produce units and there for it`s longer waiting time I think...well anyway I used to wait about 1 min per turn now it`s up to 5 sec.

I INSTALLED THE 1.21 PATCH and now After playing to about 1000-500 BC the game crashes to desktop something with error in Civilization3.exe :mad: ....jesus...Maybee it`s the amount of cities on the whole map that does the crashing...I`ve heard that the max cities should be 520 but I could only count about 50 or 60.

And when it crash it crash always on end of my turn...and yes I have updated all my video and sound files. I edit maps all the time and I know what I`m doing but this crashing thing drives me nuts.... BY THE WAY I HAVE WIN XP!


I LOVE THE GAME ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS???????????:confused:
 
It's slowing down because the game is compressing the autosaves each turn, which causes the game to slow down between turns. I suggest turning off the auto-save feature and turning off the animation for all moves. But at the same time, if you are playing a "giga-sized" world map of the 240x240 size, you have only yourself to blame for slowdown.
 
The thing is that I turned all the animation off before editing the map(Barbarian camps)...and it was slow anyway.
But after deleting the camps the game was fast between turns and I played to about 500 BC before it crashed (4 times 4 different games, and 4 different years.) but when it crashes I noticed that the amount of global cities is about 100. I have the 1.21 patch installed.
