Is it worth buying Alien Crossfire?

Well, I never did buy Alien Crossfire and I'm wondering if I should. That's all. (Are there any mods for this as well?)

If you can get your hands on it (which is not so easy now), I would buy it.If you like Ac, you will love AX.It adds seven new groups, techs, improvments, weapons and many, many more small things which make the game more fun (for example freeing leaders of fractions which have been exterminated).

Yes, I would certainly recommend SMAX. It might be hard to get a copy, though.

!! =/ unfortunate I can't find any copies. On Ebay its 30 dollars but it includes both games. Should've bought it when I could =[.

I found a ripped version here. It's not a legal version, though so I take no responsibility for any negative things happening to you if you download it. But if Firaxis doesn't print any more copies, it's their fault that we have to resort to illegal actions to get their games. Hell, I found Civ2 ToT in a bargain bin last week, so why not make more copies if SMAX?

The planetary pack is bunded with some other software in a package. IIRC its's called the "laptop collection"

Alien Crossfire was... ok. Some of the human tribes are great, but I didn't like the aliens. I normally play the game as it was originally, only swapping the Believers for the Pirates. (Arr!!!)

I have SMAX and I didn't know you could do this! Could you explain how this happens? Is there a preference I need to set somewhere?

I think it's a drone team action or something. At least, that's the impression I've gotten through reading posts here...

Send a Probe Team to the headquarters of the faction that exterminated the other faction. You will be presented with an option to free the captured leader. If successful, the freed faction will spawn somewhere on the map and will become submissive to you.

That's great! Can any faction do that?

I think so.However, I have never tried it as one of the alien factions or to set free an alien leader.
