I've been playing Civ4 since January. I probably play 3 or 4 days a week on average. Which doesn't matter, other than to say I've played plenty.

Last night I double-click the civ4 icon...it loads the initial civ 4 loading page (where it has "loading" in 6 different languages) and sits there...and sits there...and sits there...

I ejected the CD, tried again by the auto-start of putting the CD back in...same problem. I rebooted 2 or 3 times, doing all of this, and still no luck. I popped another game in the CD drive, loaded right up, no issues. Popped a music CD in, still no issues.

This morning after the night's frustration, I tried again. Wa-la, the first time I tried it the game loaded just fine! WOOHOO! OK, just to look, lets try again. Exited the game, tried to go back in...same problem as before. Reboot, same problem as before. Tried a different game CD (different than last night) and again, no issues with that.

I had this happen once before about a week ago, but rebooted and everything worked fine since. I assumed it was just a glitch. I REALLY don't want to pay for this game again.

Thoughts/suggestions? TIA!

Create a disk image on your HDD asap (before the CD breaks completely) (e.g. using Nero). Google for daemon tools and sd4hide. Daemon tools have forums, read and be inspired.
