The fact is that Paratrooper imho would be much more useful than in prec civs.
You can finally use it to paradrop behind enemy lines and pillage districts

good! paratrooper was one of the units I used less in prev civs but I think I'm goig to use it asap in civ6...

I agree also I'm looking forward of using bombers to target districts.

Also an AI civ with big bomber fleet could be terrifying!

We still don't know how airforce works...

I just hope there are some limits to stacking planes in one city, it was ridiculous how you could put 20 in one of them and annihilate anything approaching very suddenly

I wanna say that was confirmed somewhere, but if not I'd say the combination of stacking limits in CiV BNW and the existence of an airport district would probably indicate some limit on city airplane forces.

I'll happy if paratrooper work as it did in civ5: with the district system it will be far more useful. Anyway air combat was not so bad in civ5 imho

Somewhere there was a tooltip for a city/city center district, it said air units max of 2.
So they made it even stricter than BNW (6 normal city, 10 airport)

But with an airport and airstrip in the terrain it looks to be a lot more interesting. I assume you have to defend your airport or airstrips to not lose the planes. That's an interesting feature.

I guess there will be a limit in placing airports or air bases onto the map. Perhaps something like not too near a civ border

Why? If you start building airbases near my border, I'll react the same as if you start amassing ground forces near my border.

Dunno. I'd prefer something like cities in civ5. Max 4 away from a city. You are not ammassing units which can be moved away, you are building something which ramains near border

It's just an improvement like a fort or something though, so it can be replaced or even pillaged, so I don't know if needs that level of restriction.

I could imagine something like temporary forts.

Like using a military engineer's charge to build an airport on a tile that lasts for 20 turns.

We do know however that they have un-stacked the cities and added in districts with adjacency bonuses...

We have seen screenshots with forts pillaged so, if airbases will work in the same manner, I don't think they will be temporary, so (imho) there should be some other limitation in placing them

It was actually very useful in Civ5:
- Pillaging strategic and luxuries resources and roads behind the enemy lines.
- Crossing mountains and bodies of water up to 7 hexs, whithout embarking or suffering penalties.
- Spotting ennemy cities for artillery/battleship if not a spy inside.

But yes, pillaging the districts is a plus. I love this unit.

Speaking of districtis, do we know if battleships will be able to destroy them like bombers?

Hm, what will happen with airplanes in an airport which get bombed by bombers right after the DoW?
If the airport district will increase the amount of airplanes or be obviously the place where it was, how exactly will be the bombing working? Would be quite op if you can hit that airport right away and get rid of a big amount of planes. So fighter planes might be even more important then before ...

Same goes for the flying field if improvements can be bombed/destroyed by artillery/battleships ...

uhm... If it works as in Civ5, bombing causes some degree of damage to stacked units.
I don't think structure can be completely destroyed, just damaged (as for the result of pillaging)
