Is the AI any good in Red Death?

I see that you can actually play Red Death single player, all AI players. Anybody got an opinion on the AI in this mode? Is it even worth playing?

I will never play this game multiplayer though Red Death sounds cool. I wish the AI can do it....

Why don't you want to try it multiplayer? It was pretty easy to join a match, and it only lasted 45 minutes for me.

From what they said in the livestream, the AI won't really know what is going on.

Give MP a try. It's short, so if you don't like it, no harm done. I don't like Civ MP and I had fun playing it. Just don't take it too seriously.

Yes, people suck. Online anyway. They hack, they cheat. They play night and day and become all-pro while I can't play it more than a little each day. I get wiped from hacks and non-hacks every game. FUN = ZERO. That's why no MP.

I played my 1st RD game against 7 AIs. Sigh, yes the AI was a disaster. I easily won my 1st game. I wonder if they will do anything with this AI. I doubt it since it meant to be MP only.

I got to play against the AI in a game where the last two players disconnected. The AI knows how to run and how to stay out of the Red Death and that's all it can do. I wasn't attacked even once, I just cornered the units and finished them off. It's not worth playing this SP, unless all you want is the achievements. Again, I recommend trying MP at least once.

Play it today. Nobody is a pro yet, there's a lot of players that aren't used with MP trying it out and so far I didn't see anyone using hack. It's the perfect day to play.

How does one hack multiplayer? Asking for a friend.

I do not know enough specifically for civ but generally...

There is using weaknesses in the game, for example weaknesses around shift +enter
There is client side software that can help a game in a myriad of ways

There is one behavior tree added specifically for Red Death, called something like Civ Battle Royale. Plus there is a condition to check if a tile is safe, plus there is a way to control the target of an AI operation from the script.
All other AI behavior is the same as in the main game.
So, in summary, AI should know how to avoid radiation and how to move towards scripted goals (resources, etc.)

I don't think people hack in Civ, particularly, and Red Death is a fairly simple mode, which means "pros" won't be much different from a starting player, particularly if there's already familiarity with Civ on all counts.

So overall, this...

Otherwise, no offense, it seems like you want only mildly challenging opponents and not really anyone or anything who wants to actually compete.

Just try and see. The skill ceiling really can't be that high, least of all with the mode being so new.

Set up a hot seat game, select the Red Death (Battle Royale) ruleset, and select all AI opponents.
