Is the DLC worth buying for Civ4?

I really was enjoying Civ5, but then I bought BNW and the game literally became a bad sim city.

Do the DLC packs add anything of value to Civ4's gameplay or should I skip them?

If you are referring to the expansions (Warlords & Beyond the Sword). Then yes get them, best get the Civ4 complete which has both expansions and Colonization.

Other than that I'm not aware of any Civ4 DLC
