Is the 'Explorer's Map Pack' worth it?

Well, the Maps Pangea plus and Continents plus are excellent. To bad they can´t be used in MP. I haven´t tested the other maps, but these two alone are worth it

Not bad, but not great either. I typically play small maps since I hate late-game grind, so many of the Real World location maps I've not tried out yet. The scripted random maps are alright. Given that you can get this for a little over $2 if you're buying it together with the Denmark DLC (total $7.49) it's not too bad a deal.

That. They need to be put on the non advanced setup menu IMO, cause they're just that good

I like continents plus. It feels like fractal + continents both of which are my favorites. Some people don't like archipelago style CS however. I do like it though in that they don't get in the way while a few CS laid out in continent still play critical role.

Bought it at work just now, looking forward to trying pangea plus. I also notice a map called 'donut', was that there before or am I hallucinating like the leader of Babylon?

Donut is one of them, I believe.

Continents Plus and Sandstorm were both loads of fun. I still have to check out some of the set maps (I'll try Caribbean next, most likely).

Donut is a bit of a pangea plus, it is a donut shaped map in which you can choose it's middle (sea, mountains, etc)

It suits Civ V pretty well I think, the center acting as a buffer against other civs.

Well, the map seems to fit better into the gameplay of Civ V to me, thats all. I mean Civs are declaring war on you nilly willy, and in this case, you'll only have to worry on those close to you, not the entire map (as in Pangea).

The C+ map is just awesome, it's not always just 2 continents, there are some smaller islands, the shape of the continents is highly random, and resource placement is 10000 times better aswell. Well worth the 2 bucks. I think it is worth more than all of the DLC-s comdined

This probably sounds like a dumb question, but what does the 'plus' or 'scripted' mean? I'd like to call myself a civ veteran, and I even own this map pack (haven't used it yet), but I honestly am confused.

Can someone explain the difference between "normal" continents and continents "plus" please?

Is it just bigger? Can you play it on standart or small size?

Edit: I'm too late. Some decent answers already. There's also a good video at the steam store which explains everything.

The Continents Plus map I think has better continent shapes. The biggest thing is it sticks City States on islands. Basically, it's a more strategic continents map. I know that sounds vague, but if you play it, you figure it out. Definitely can play on Standard and I think the rest as well.

Tavelon, scripted means it's not a pre-set map. It's a random map just like any of the main maps. For example, you select Sandstorm, you'll get a different map each time. But it'll always be more desert and mountains than a normal map. The non-scripted maps are preset maps. The British isles map will always be Britain and Ireland, just as if you were playing the 1066 Scenario.

Am I the only one that think the new Plus maps sucks? I rather play on regular continents or pangaea then the plus ones. Its basically just regular continents but all the city states are on islands around the continent leaving most of the strategic aspects from the city states out of the game. Also the continents get barren and empty without city states, making blind expansion easy since city states are never in your way.

People are talking about island to settle but I get more island to settle on a regular continent map or on fractal then I do on a plus map. On plus all those island off the coast are just city state islands. The plus maps were a huge let-down for me. I rather liked the sandstorm one though since it makes cities count.

Thanks, now I know what I spent my money on
