Is the Heroic Epic really working?

Maybe the perceived slow down in leader appearance could be due to the number of active armies you have in the field ... I may be wrong but I think there may be a limit to the number of armies ...
If so then when you have reached the army limit, the leaders stop appearing
Any thoughts :)

What a brilliant concept ... create a proving ground where your units are 'blooded' prior to 'real combat' ... I really love this idea ... well done ... I'm going to save some barb camps and create a rite of passage ... which ends in the sacred grove where the boys receive their cuts of manhood ... :cringe:

Not in C3C. But there was a bug right back in PTW, in which you could unload the units from the army. You could then load it with improved units. The problem is that the game could crash.

You first clicked on the army and then selected the unit within the army you wanted to unload and cliked on it. You then ordered the unit (not the army) to move to an adjacent tile. The unit would unload from the army automatically.

IIRC they addressed this issue with a patch. Perhaps it was patch 1.27 but you could still do it with PTW 1.21. you would have to try it out yourself, it's been years since I've done it myself.

I do this with most games, maybe the reason I don't have problems getting leaders, that and I'm a warmonger. I almost always do this in multi-player games, so my troops are the best they can be before facing a real intelligent enemy.

The reason that less leaders seem to appear after the heroic epic, might be to the fact that you need a (victorious) army to build the heroic epic. When you then use armies instead of single units there will be less oppurtunities to promote to elites and to get leaders from elite attacks.

Maybe we just expect too much (1/16 : 1/12 isn't much diference)... (are you sure it is only 1:16 without HE,it seems more to me?)

I do compare only elite units attacking outside an army with no leader available. What I have noticed is that after reloading a game, the leaders seems to come after all, even with Preserve RS. Some kind of bug?
