Is there a mod that provides a more realistic population?

All right...the year is 1800, I just entered the modern age, on the large map size. I'm about 5 million square km in size and have a population of 30 million. This is ridiculous. Even if I could just add a single zero at the end of the figures it would be satisfactory.

Canada: 9.984.670 km²
Population: 34.278.406

At the moment I don't know how big 5 million square km is in game. But I had games with a few cities and much more than 30 milltion population. The problem is, that it is exponantial with city size and that faktor seems to be a bit too high (as you cannot transfer Food from smaller cities with high food produktion to the large metropoles).

The formula for civ5 (same for civ4) city citizens and population is:

y = 1000*x^2.8, round down to nearest 1000. y is population and x is city citizens in one city. Add up populations of each city to get total population of civ.

Yeah since Civ 4 I've always thought it'd be a great idea to be able to transfer food and production from smaller cities to larger ones....Rather than happiness, which makes absolutely no sense.

Yeah the size of the empire really isn't a factor. That was just my way of illustrating that I'm essentially dominating the game.
