Hello.

Is there a way to issue the same orders to several units?
I know you can drag a whole stack to the same location. But beyond that?
For instance, when I have a fortified, mixed stack of artillery and infantry, I'd like to wake up all the arty but not the inf. Can I do that faster than selecting individual units on the list one after the other ?
I wish I could order all artillery units in a stack to bombard the same city (until all defenders are redlined) in a single click. Is this possible? And if not, why didn't Civ3 designers ever play their own game throughout and realize how tedious it can be at times? ;)

I guess 12 hours of silence is the next answer to "No". :-(

I'm assuming you're playing Civ3 classic (at least 1.17 patch). You'll also need railroad for this...

1) wake all.
2) select 1 inf
3) hit 'J', the stack move command
4) move mouse cursor to a rail-roaded tile next to your stack and click
5) bingo! The inf and arties are separated :)

In C3C, subtitute ctrl-J for J.

Yes, that's nice, but I wish there were more useful possibilities.

well stack movement is nice late in the game. i wish there were stack bombarding. i wish there were a way i could give orders to the "units manager" to only select for example workers until i tell him to start selecting something else. so id have to say that group orders are pretty limited.

With one turn you can set all the artillary to autobombard, tedius for only one turn, then after that it'll keep going till you take the city..... which is fine and dandy as long as you dont take it in that single turn lol.

You should at least be able put units in "groups". They'd move together, and bomb/attack/road/irrigate/mine together.

I'd like to be able to issue the following kinds of orders:

Attention all [fill-in the blank] units: Cease all movement, cancel all previously issued orders.

Attention all [fill-in the blank] units: RTB (Return to nearest city/base).

Attention... : Bombard xxxx (where xxxx is a city)

and so forth.

One more:
Attention K-Mart shoppers, the blue light special for today is...
(You'd have to have shopped at K-Mart before the 80s to get that joke, I guess.
