Is there any way to do anything with mountains

or maybe an option to push a mountain out of your city influence so you can use the tile to buile whatever; the moutain wouldnt vanish just be moved.

Alternatively, you could give Rangers the ability to create a new "mountain pass" improvement that would allow one unit at a time to pass (maybe exclude siege weapons, chariots, etc.). This would only be buildable when there is passable terrain on either side, so you couldn't have a pass through the center of a huge range. Give it a small penalty on defense but a huge bonus to fortification (so your troops are vulnerable when passing through, but you can hold it if you are prepared).

I like this, 1 unit at a time, only foot units.I also like mining mountains, but I would want different graphics.

As I understand the problem with mountain is that it can not be normally handled as usual terrain in terms of yeld and such. Why not try and go around the problem? Would it be possible to clone the hill terrain, give it a mountain graphix and add a restriction that without a speciall promotion you can not walk on it.

There was a custom terrain added to the game, why not simulate mountains like that? It would require deleting/replacing all the mountains from the map scripts, that and adding the new terrain would require a lot of work. Is it doable at all from the coding perspective?

You could left the old mountains also and rename them as Peaks. Dwarven promotion would allow movement and maybe some promotion that the reckon line could get so the dwarves wouldn't fell so secure there. Then having RoK would give you some yeld increase [normally the fake mountains would have 0 yeld but could have metal resources poping up on them, dwarves could harvest it always thanks to their dwarven promotion on their workers and maybe give Soldiers of Kilmorph the ability to build mines there so others have it too if converting to RoK]

The question is: is it possible?

Any terraforming that makes impassable squares passable or vice-versa can't be handled intelligently by the AI, apparently. So it won't happen in the main mod, whatever the limitations.

If you don't like the amount of mountains in the Erebus mapscript, there are only 2 solutions, really: adjust the parameters or switch to another mapscript.
Tectonics gives nice mountain ranges too, without the issue of isolated valleys.

really dont care much if they become passable or not. all i care for is to be able to use them for city development in form of mining.

I like the idea of 'workable mountains' and then rename existing mountains 'impassible peaks' or something.

in RL its more common to (more) easily find precious metals/ rare minerals in mtns cause deeper layers of old rock are exposed on the surface.

give dwarves ability to mine 'workable mountains' and other civs the ability after some more advanced tech ... construction? maybe?

also, instead of visible resources on 'workable mountains' have instead greater odds of finding a resource, but also longer construction times due to the rough terrain.

of course this would be a PITA to code, but it sure would be interesting.

I don't see why we need more mine resources except mithril perhaps. There has got to be some benefit to having more than 1 of a resource other than a couple of manas.
