Is there any way to load or edit pallettes in GIMP?

You havent been paying attention :nono:

There was a thread on this a few weeks ago ;)

Go to:

Gimp: Picture: Mode: Indexed. Choose "create optimum palette" and use 256 colours :)

Following Supa's mentioning of this ability of Gimp, i managed to create 256 colour files very easily, with no problems at all, since it really chooses the optimum palette.

Mode? I'm not sure I have that window. I do understand that you can do something with palettes when you push ctrl-p, but as far as I can see, the paltette that belongs to my file doesn't show up:/

I still can't find any of the functions:confused:

Could someone post a screenie of their location in GIMP?

. .
