Regarding Wonder Building AI Behavior.
I'm playing a game and using Worldbuilder to keep an eye on what the *!+ AIs are going to be able to build before me. I am building Ankor What and the Arabians are building The Sistine Chapel. I get 2 turns from completing the Ankor What and the game announces that the Arabians have finished it. The *!++ AI switched from Sistine Chapel to Angor What to beat me.....
then do I get to switch to Sistine Chapel instead?
But Noooooooooo I have to take some cash that I don't need or want.
I ask you is this fair???
Please elaborate.

Are you sure the Arabs didn't build it in a city you weren't paying attention to?

There's also a pretty good chance that they simply used a Great Engineer to rush it.

Plus don't forget the fact that the AI gets Great People too. I checked the WB once to see that I was ahead in building Colosses over the AI and I was. However, the very next turn the AI finished it first by using a Great Engineer.

You can't "switch" and use accumulated production on one building toward another building. This is a good thing and a big improvement from Civ3. The AI can't do it either. If they suddenly finished a wonder that they hadn't started the turn before, they must have built it with a Great Engineer.

Although, if the AI were to cheat, in response to your cheating, I think that would be entirely fair, too. :)

The days of switching from one wonder to another wonder are gone (of course you can still switch, but you cannot take over any hammers). So they will have rushed/speeded it on one of the several possible ways (Slavery, Universal Suffrage, forest chopping, engineer).

Ok, heres the save game. Unless its some kind of bug....you can see with WorldBuilder that Saladin is working on The Sistine Chapel. But go a turn and see what happens!!!
I'm going to try and attach the save game I'm afraid I've never done this.

My Solution to this Cheating by the AI was to go back a couple of turns and reduce that Sistine Chapel city to 1 pop until I finished Angor What. When I returned the pop the city did not return to Sistine Chapel it evidently took a gold consolation prize.

I don't understand how a Great Engineer helps him switch from The Sistine Chapel to the Ankor What in 1 turn and finish it. Am I allowed to do that?
What city is the Ankor What finished in? I can't get my loads to work right now and I've got to go eat.

This is what happens.

-Saladin is building Sistine Chapel.
-Saldadin switches production to Angkor Wat. Ankor Wat has no hammers. Sistine Chapel keeps the hammers that it had, if Saladin ever switches back to it.
-Saladin uses a Great Engineer to hurry the Angkor Wat, giving it enough hammers to build it next turn.

That's how hurrying works. You can do it too, if you have: a)Universal Sufferage and enough cash, b)Slavery and enough population, or c)a Great Engineer.

That's all fine and good, but it's so much more fun to howl and carry on about how the game SUCKS, its BROKE, the programmers are INCOMPETENT, the developers DONT CARE...etc, etc.

As opposed to sitting down, reading the rule book, examining the facts, and so forth...
:)

lmao

thats the sort of thing I would do, and did about the scrolling interface. lol, complain b4 looking at all the facts.

How does my turning that city with the Sistine Chapel to one pop point stop him from switching to Angkor Wat and using the Great Engineer to hurry it??

A Great Engineer allows you to rush a Wonder, so it is built in one turn.

Ok, Ive switched into the role of Saladin by using the WorldBuilder and I understand how he did it. But it appears he rushed built it in Mecca and the work that he accumulated on the Sistine Chapel in Medina dissapeared from my perspective. Its still a darn dirty trick and the AI should not have known that I was almost finished with Angor Wat myself. It just beat me by one turn.

Does Saladin have a holy city of a religion you have in the city you were building Angkor Wat in?

If so that explains everything right there.

That doesn't mean that the AI cheated. It could have just then finished research on the tech allowing Angkor Wat, or just spawned the Engineer that turn, or the Engineer could've been en route until that turn, etc.
