I've won noble several times, and have two monarch wins... but both were peaceful-like. I may take over one neighbor for space, but then I win through culture, diplomacy, or space-race. (I was a generally peaceful Civ2 and Civ3 player too)
But I decided I'm going to try a more military-oriented victory... my goal was to get a domination or conquest victory.
Washington started off with a continent to himself. He's going to be annoying. Montezuma took over his neighbor, and now he has a continent to himself.
To get half of the remaining (large!) continent, I've had to take out Saladin and Catherine. (The war with Catherine was very draining -- she got grenadiers just as I was about to deliver the death blows, and that dragged it out longer.
) I'm sharing it with Frederick who, as far as I can tell, never had to go to war, so like Washington, he's doing fairly well.
I think I'm going to have to take out two of my opponents to get a domination victory. Bleh.
My plan was to make a beeline for tanks, to see if I could get a leg up on the opponents, hopefully letting me take out Frederick. Well, that plan isn't going to work so easily, because he already seems to have mechanized infantry, and tanks are still a few techs away!
I'm not exactly a swift warmonger in any case, so I get the feeling that this game is a lost cause, and I should fire up a new one to try again. Am I being too pessimistic?
