1. The usual econ strategies ( 1city/luxury -> NC, or granary->NC-> expand)
2. If not isolated, Econ Techs -> IW -> Metal Casting (Steel if needed) -> Civil Service -> Machinery -> Currency -> Education -> Navigation -> Gunpowder
3. If isolated, Beeline education -> Metal Casting -> Navigation. Try to use 1-2 Great Sci for Astronomy/Navigation (depending on how hammer heavy and whether you were able to build GL or Oracle or PT).
The goal for isolated is to build:
1 Caravel
2 Frigates
1 Musketman/Longswordsman
as fast as possible. A good goal is turn 90 or so. This force is usually great at taking coastal cities, since your opponent will likely still have triremes.
Continue working on Econ (National wonders, seaports, markets, etc) after this force is created, then mass more frigates to defeat their later counterattack. Get public schools and tech to Destroyers for the win.
