It's Alive!

Well, kinda. Bought the game, tried loading it, screamed in disappointment when it didn't, eventually got here

I've updated the xml parser, reinstalled the game once, installed directX 9.0c about uh 3 times, and fiddled with the ini files.

In the ini file i turned off audio, in game movies, and turned on the show Python errors thing. So, game loads (instead of starting to load, changing the screen res, and then crashing back to desktop without showing any errors). Clicking almost anything brings up Python errors, but it still works.

Anyway. To cut a long story short, I now have game loading as far as the menu at least, audio working, but still no ingame movies!

Join the club! I hope they can push out a patch for this game so we can start Modding! I mean thats what Python is here for.

I found it interesting that they've coded it in XML too. I also found it wonderful when i clicked on a link to 'show me the big picture' and it ended up showing me a big picture of my desktop

Just so you all know, I got my video to work, and it seems to have fixed a lot of the other problems.

What i did: on a whim, after being awake 20+ hours, I replaced the binkw32.dll file, with the one from Age of Empires 3, and turned in-game movies back on in the ini file. Amazingly, everything seems to be working so far.

On a Radeon 9600XT btw.
