I am a Vanilla, Prince level player who quits most games at Lib because I'm literally too far ahead.
I play Saladin much of the time.
I normally run a SE trying to grab Oracle / Pyramids. Oracle isn't nessecary but CoL is a great trading tech because many civs have such a low preference among AI civs. I normally Start worker and grab Agi and AH if there are Cows / Pigs / Sheep. Then BW and Masonry and Beeline writing via Priesthood. I don't think I have ever played a Prince game where I didn't get both Pyra / Oracle, even without Stone. Grab CoL with your free tech while teching Alpha and then trade away. I usually then grab IW and then my tech path varies from there.
I then Beeline to Lib and maybe pick up Lit (for TGL), Currency, or Metal Casting (forges). I love this strat because I pump far more GP than other civs and can easily keep up in Military because one city can produce enough research to double all the other civs due to their poor worker management. I usually hit Lib between 750 - 1000AD and either quit or continue playing.
My last game with Mao I was attacking Caesar and Monty fighting Tanks and Infantry against a few recently upgraded Riflemen and Longbows. It wasn't even funny. I had Industrialism before they even hit Rifling to show how much of a tech lead I had.
Hope this helps if you try to run a SE. Read some of obsoletes games to see a good high level SE.
