I've made some amendments to the Great Works/culture overview screen

I like the improvements.

I agree that it is a lot cleaner to move the National Wonders to the city area instead of having their own column.

My best guess as to why it's this way: Every civilization can have each National Wonder (as opposed to World Wonders which are limited) and since many players are new to BNW, having all of the buildings listed out (including the Royal Library which is inapplicable to the majority of civs) helps make it clearer how one can get Great Work slots.

Since the Palace and Epics have their own columns, it makes it clear to new players that they help with Great Works. If they only appeared next to the city with them, it wouldn't be so obvious (though that's a non-issue for experienced BNW players).

Thanks. :D

The unmodded Culture Overview doesn't list *all* National Wonders with Great Work slots in their own column -- Oxford University and Hermitage (the multi-slot buildings) are already displayed below the respectice city name. This is simply inconsistent.

You are right of course.

That provides even more of a reason for your fix.

I know it's such a minor thing, but I really hope Firaxis integrates this touchup into the next patch. It would look more consistent. The only thing is that fewer columns might make the screen look more "empty". Which they could compensate for by adding new buildings with slots!!!

There are a lot of things to say about the original implementation, and I think both of you are right in your respective theories and opinions. Some of it might have been a pure aesthetic question also: Hermitage and Oxford University with their multiple slots and theming bonuses would be too wide to get their own columns, whereas moving all the national wonders below the city (without adding something else) leaves a rather wide empty space on the right side of the culture overview, which they may have considered to look bad.

Yeah. The vast majority of the wonders which show up underneath the city section (instead of the columns) all have multiple slots and theming bonuses. The one exception is the Parthenon. In contrast, all of the column categories (except the Museum) only have a single slot and no theming bonus.

I've not been active on here for a few days and came back to discover your findings. Well done, kaspergm; this seems to be a good example of how, as a community, we've found out how to mod an important screen ;).

I have added a Palace replacement UB and am having problems with and error in CulturalOverview.lua and not being able to open the view screen in game.

Seems it may be related to the above problem.

From what I understand, national wonders should not be a problem; however, my palace seems to be causing difficulties.

The problem is introduced in this thread... though I would cross post here to see if the solution is also here.

I much prefer an xml solution for compatibility reasons.

Thank-you
