Japans bonus

I was playing a game last night and got absolutely rocked by Japanese samurai, i had french musketeers. I know in part i lost because he had a general and i did not. But how does the Japanese bonus work? does it make a unit fight at full strength even when it is red health bar with 1 person?

It fights at full strength but it still has less HP.

One more thing, the bonus affects all units correct?

I think it does, yes.

Bombardment, that`s the key. If you just use archers or catapults then they get no benefit from their bonus.

Yep. AI Oda is extremely annoying because he spams tons of units at you, and his UA caters perfectly to the human wave attacks of the AI. Solution? Build more ranged units.
