Jet fighters bugged or just animation?

I set my jets to circle around my cities as i was getting ready to put a serious smackdown on AI the next day. When I logged back in next day there were none flying (visibly). I'm not sure if it was just the animation that didn't load correctly, but i didn't want to take any chances and had to wake all the jets up in every city again.

This has happened to me too. Unfortunately, I cannot suggest anything to fix it but it has occured sometimes after an AI I am at war with has bombed my civilization but was intercepted by my jet fighters.

Just checked and its only the animation thats bugged, jets still intercept eventhough they are not circling the city.
