JJ02-The Mystery Variants

I am going to be away this weekend, and can't play until tuesday

in that case should we skip and i play now or wait.

sorry i don't think i'll be able to play, i had to re install my computer and its going extremely slow so i'll have to be skipped. i was looking foward to the war.

You're right. All these skips have confused me. I can play today, so I guess I will. To be clear:

Roster:
Jeejeep-skipped, but now playing
spriteSODA-skip
blastoidstalker-skip
sand-skip
ngraner42-actually played:crazyeye:

EDIT: will play after I watch Brazil-Australia

Civ froze up my computer after I played about five turns. I can play them over again, but I would have spoiler information. Should I?

I did. I have no idea how many turns I played, I completely lost track because of playing the same turns twice. I tried to play the second turns the same as the first ones as much as possible.

As soon as I opened the save I noticed our research. We were running 90% with -50gpt! I put it back to 70% with -24, slightly more manageable. The highwest we can go without losing money is 50% :( Asoka also immediatly pillaged our rice.

Looking at our stack, I realized we had no axemen, leaving us vulnerable to Asoka's axeman attacks. I also noticed Asoka had just got longbowmen.:shake: This could be a long war.

All Asoka had defending Saxon was a longbowman and a spear. Still it took three turns bombarding defenses, a suicide cat, and the loss of a sword to take the city. Units are currently in it healing. I razed Jaipur, a newly built Indian city.

However, we are in trouble. Asoka is continually sending out axemen in pairs, intercepting our forces on the way to the front. It is hard to combat this, because we have too many swords, which are vulnerable to axes. I suggest building horse archers. We also don't have anywhere near enough catapults, especially since I suicided one. If we want to take another city, we need suicide cats to have any chance with swords against longbows. I suggest we make peace and regroup until we get macemen, then resume the war.

Other notes: Research was Drama-Civil Service. Qin Shi Huang demanded construction, and since we need some friends I gave in. The GP farm is almost ready. I think we should revolt to slavery, if only to whip in the GP farm.

Our forces in Saxon got decimated by Asoka's counter attack, but we stand poised to retake the city. Pulled Qin into the war so I don't fear for much of another counter attack.

Switched over to some infrastructure work on the west side of the empire. The GP farm looks like it will be huge once it gets going. I have never tried so exclusively to work this angle in a city, so I am curious how it will work out.

T0. Drama to Alexander for 160gp. Drama to Peter for 130gp. Adopted Slavery.
T1. Paid Qin 530gp to declare war on Asoka. I was planning to get the money back for Drama, but it disappeared. It looks like the AI can upgrade troops, when it is not their turn.
T2. IBT Lost a couple swordsman in Saxon to Axeman attacks. Beshbalik: Granary>Theater. Karakorum: Granary>Theater. Take a gamble attacking Asoka Longbowman and Axeman outside Saxon with a suicide (20%) Catapult to get the collateral damage. The die roll was not very good, we will see next turn.
T3. Saxon is recaptured by Asoka. Rush built Granary in Turfan, Theater in Beshbalik and Karakorum.
T4. London: Catapult>Catapult. Nottingham: Catapult>Horse Archer. Beshbalik: Theater>Lighthouse. Turfan: Granary>Lighthouse. Karakorum: Theater>Courthouse
T5. Ho-hum.
T6. Hinduism spread to our lands. Traded Saladin Drama for Literature.
T7. Khan found a city in the desert next to Karakorum.
T8. Canterbury: Catapult>Theater.
T9. Ho-hum.
T10. Nottingham Horse Archer>Horse Archer. Rush built Lighthouse in Turfan.

Deja-vu. This looks like the screen print from my last post.

well comp fixed i can slip in after blastoid.

well i think we should aim for getting the Globe in the GP farm. this could be used to whip a constant stream of units and i put the globe in gp citys anyway.

I am back and can play tonight.

We had just set fire to the gold mine when they came at us.
The archers and axes streamed out of the city, looking like a rants swarming from a disturbed nest. They must of feared for the lost of there gold for they came with a vengeance. But our men were smart and strong, we hid in the tunnels where the range of there arrows was useless and slaughtered them as they tried to flush them out.
Never try to hunt a snake when he is in his cave.

Now out in the bright sunlight again we can see the city of Saxon again. Its walls battered and its garrison cut in half on a stupid attack. We were going to let the city be, as we saw the new longbows and realized that taking on 4000 longbowmen was too much for our swords and axes, we planned to pillage the country side and isolate the cities from each other. But now only 2000 longbowman remain and we can smell there fear.

The siege engines are sent first bombarding the city is rocks. They burn them but they are weakened. Then the swords and axes come rushing in, overrunning the defenses. Saxon is ours now and Asoka sends a dove to us.
We take his peace and we take his city.
Now is time to develop the mace that we need to crack upon the heartland of India.
