josh4bs' attempt at getting better

Ok...went back a bit and played to 50 AD, probably too long...oh well.

Nidaros and Berlin are the top 2 cities in the world. Not sure that means too much, but they are.

Attempted to make better use of the workers and work the better tiles first.

Stuck on Tech tree now...not sure to complete Aesthetic line or go back for others first.

Probably should develop an army before 400AD or so...

Thank you in advance for your time and advice.

The Autmatic city governor sees that the city can grow 6 more pop before becoming unappy or unhealthy, and sees that it is optimal to run as much farms as possible.

Changing farms for mines here is a short term tactic for if you really really really really want something right now, and is extremely hurtful for your science and production in the longer term.

Thank you to all that have read and invested your time and advice into this thread. I have played this map for far too long and have decided that I will abandon this map/game.

I have learned an unbelievable amount from you and I am very thankful for that. However, one can play/look at the same map, in isolation, for so long before it just gets to the point that it is not interesting/fun. I have reached that point.

I will be continuing my quest to be an adequate player and am looking forward to the Nobles' Club, et al in the future.

Happy Civing!!!

I shadowed this game and man it was a while ago I played noble :)
I had no reason to attack Ragnar as his land wasn't that great.
I just settled right in his face and took the gem city by Nidaros.
Then I got a bity lucky and founded Conf in that city for culture.
Sprwad the religion and he was soon pleased. Oracled cs and build SH, mids, Mom, lighthouse, colussos, parth and a few more. Skipped Alpha and went edu and optics.
Rexed to 12 cities by 500 AD and let Ragnar build 10 cities for me....
Took a few caravels and found the other civs. And boy, it was sad.
I had astronomy and ecu at 700 AD and even though I didn't even bother got both
theology and Philo 1st. The most advanced civ didn't have col and just got currency.
A few turns later I libed MT and got 20 curs and declared. Ragnar was just about to get Monarchy... He went down so fast. Saw no point in him living and just took his cites.
Meanwhile I built some galleons and am just about to upgrade my curs to cavs and send my army over. It's 1200 AD and through AP I negotiated a trade embargo vs the most advanced civ :). He has just got Engineering and I am clsing in on Steam engine...
