Just a few things id thought should be added to civ4/ next civ3 expansion.

1. Helicarriers. if i cant base my choppers on a carrier, then give me a purpose built ship for it. maybe something like 1/7/4, and carry 3 choppers.

2. Trench-works. Something that adds say 10% defensive bonus to units. only infanty would be able to construct. one turn for a trench on that tile.

3. APCs. I tend to make heavy use of infantry, even in the late game, and it'd be nice to be able to keep them moving with armor units.

4. Carriers. they should be moved to flight. yes, i like knowing that ill have a few carriers lying around waiting for me to get flight, but it just isnt realistic. Who built carriers before they knew how to build aircraft? also, make them look like the old Essex classes.

5. Super-carriers. Available with rocketry. 1/9/5 carrying 6 aircraft. Again, more for realism. Once jets became predominent, carriers where heavily modified to account for it. So, why not include it in the game. Any air unit should be able to rebase onto one, but jet aircraft could not rebase onto the outdated carriers.

6. Ironclads. These should not be upgradable to destroyers. I can kinda understand upgrading the various troop ships, but a metal warship being miraculously transformed into a modern warship? kinda stretching things there.

I do agree with those. I also think ironclads shouldn't upgrade either but if not they they are almost pointless. Unless you can make them very effective against earlier boats, weak against later, and the same against land. In civ3 that might not be possible.
 
1) I'm with you there, we need more uses for Helicopters.

2) Also a +, we just need a good way to impliment them. (something more complext thatn just a % bonus)

3) The use of APCs is already symbolized by Mechanized Infantry. It shows how your units are meade faster and more effective through use of vehicles.

4 & 5) Sounds like a good idea, but I wouldn't allow heavy bombers to base off carriers. (Perhaps invent a new "medium bomber" unit that in lightly weeker than standard bombers, and can base on carriers)

6) I'm impartial to this one, but the navy definatley needs an overhaul for Civ4. All previous Civs have had a lot of difficulty with creating an effective Navy system.
