Just as you think you are on top of things and it's getting too easy....

I like how C2C can suddenly surprise after some time where you think it was becoming too easy, being the world leader etc. Suddenly 15 heavy swordsmen spawn in barb territory. Heavy swordsmen that normally wont become available much later in later eras than Ancient that I am currently in and thus much stronger than my units! I had created barb cities out of my neighbourg civs cities in the Arabian peninsula so I could farm them for slaves and XP. To ease the transport of slaves to my empire I had built a long road through non claimed dune territory. But with the spawning of that frightening barb army I had also provided the perfect route for them to quickly reach my empire! Luckily my Khaemvaset was in the area overseeing the procuring of slaves personally, but even he had to retreat initially when he spotted the barb army. Even though he could take out some of the barbs I did not want to risk loosing him. My panther army was currently busy harassing my good friends the Persians, but I now had to divert them to deal with the barbs. Panthers alone wouldn't do it though, a bunch of strong units with vs melee promotions is needed also, but they will have to be produced first. If the barbs used my road they could get to my empire in perhaps 5 turns, way too little time to produce enough units to defend without at least loosing a city, probably my major city of Babylon since it was at the end of the road! Luckily I was able to divert them from their course with an archer and a few workers. I am now producing troops focused solely vs melee and for desert/dune combat and amassing my panther army for a total showdown in the desert!

I do consider myself lucky that barb leaders saw it fit to deploy a massive infantry army to march through the desert, and not a massive camel knight army. I'd be done if that happened :)

I've had a single desert tile in between my border and a guarded settler. There were mountains on all other sides, and then 7 strength melee barbabain spawned in the tile. Unluckily, I did not account for teleporting tactics as my units had nowhere to run.

I think that the thought behind is that those barbs actually lived there, on that tile (just without you knowing it, hence you could not see it before they suddenly appeared by taking up weapons and going on a conquest against your units and lands).

I can't help but feel the mod is on the right track when we're getting as many player experience posts as any 'bug reports'. Finally. Thanks for sharing Jayman!

That massive army is an event. It looks like it is making the wrong units for the time.

It is for Ancient and even Classical. Hvy Sword is Medieval Tech.

But I do feel that it's okay that the barb army is pretty strong. They had no promotions on them and when they are only infantry, and no other unit types, even being medieval units with 13 strength compared to my ancient units in a range of 5-7 strength they will get defeated by my promoted mixed army types. So if you do correct the era for the units perhaps give them a bunch of promotions also, so that they do not become too weak?

I definitely feel the mod is on the right track. Im having more fun than with any other mod I have tried, and currently over 100 hours in on my first play (reaching end of ancient era). I have no idea when I will finish this playthrough, perhaps after 1000 hours (if that is even enough, time will tell :)).
