Just curious... Why are you a Mod?

It requires time AND regular basis dutty of checking threads.

Big responsability for those like me, who many times have hot and important projects to solve in a week or something...

That's the main downside I think...

Respect is cool, but if you are a good poster, you'll have it also...

Now, the question that arises is: which CFC mod doesn't have a social life?

and:

I became a moderator so that I could eat mor brains. BRAINSSSSS! I CAN SMELL YOUR SPICY BRAINSSSSS!

Put 2 and 2 together ;) :D

My advice to everyone...don't become a mod. Refuse it at all costs...once you are in..you DON'T come out. And it takes much more work that you think..trust me ;)

If you do have to....don't blame me.

Let's turn that around: if I don't have to, can I blame that on you?
I think that cornmaster has given a satisfactory answer to the question 'why are you a mod'. It's obvious that it sucks to write on a forum when there's nobody else there (I've got a perfect example of that in my sig, don't be shy to leave a message), so you could better pretend to be a moderator to give your visitors the feeling that it's really about something:crazyeye:

btw, would lefty mind if I make that brains thing my new sig? I think in a month of two my current sig is overdated.

Lefty makes no and waives all claims of copyright or anal retentive restriction of re-use of the absurdities which he has posted in public on the internet.

Well... we could always have more users post in the Civ3 Tournament fourm. ;)

I just visited one day and I was a mod of the chess forum.Few days later I was mod of Civ2 forums.
Next time I visited I was not a mod.Next time after that,I was a mod again :D.For awhile there were more mods than members.
I have no idea why I was chosen but decided I would do my best.I visit everyday anyways so.......Stellar Converter had something to do with it before he went to the darkside. Admittedly,"my" forums are peaceful and relatively trouble free.I like it that way. Some of that is due to the demographic that still plays Civ2.Some of it is due to my "style".I will not be baited or provoked.

Advantages-civfanatics e-mail
ability to "redo" or "add to" posts
access to the CF yacht 1 month per year

disadvantages-targeted for e-mail spam-particularly the ones that promise to enlarge my breasts.
Being placed in difficult positions occasionally.Fortunately I have never had to ban anyone.I like that also.

Maybe, but not on my account.I have it booked for July :D

No, we're all just terrified of SunTzu. ;):D

The atmosphere in the Civ 2 forums is great. Occasionally we get some hothead who thinks they can defeat anyone at MP, but their skills are put into perspective when someone takes them on and things quieten down again. Smash and ST are doing a great job - they don't need to be as hands-on as the OT mods or Civ 3 mods and this means that they can devote more time to actually posting in the forums and sharing their knowledge of the game. :)

Your cheque is in the mail ;)

I knew some little bastard had to have taken that! :D

Give it back....I think it's lefty's month and you REALLY, REALLY might not want to piss off lefty.

And I forgot to mention earlier, the @civfanatics.net e-mail addresses are very neato!

Chess forum must be peacefull.

Besides, it's good to have mods that think this way...

(If I were a mod. I wouldn't ban a lot, but it would be so lovely to make big mouths shut up or... )
:D
But banning is too agressive. I wouldn't ban that much ;)

well not many people go on a banning spree but if you ban a few people for no reason to start off with they all learn ;)
