I'm sorry, but despite the crappy graphics, controls and interface, I've got to say it's got these things that I just wish Civ3 had:

*Armies. I mean, honestly, since when did you need a great leader in order to make an army? Maybe a general, but I assume back in the stone ages, armies were just a group of people from the same tribe that had weapons, and so on.

*Underwater cities. Face it, naval combat in Civ3 is non existant because quite basically, the seas are somewhat useless. I know execptions exist, but apart from amphibious landings, they don't quite have a use. Underwater cities could change that. Not only will the seas become part of your empire, you can mine the seas for resources. They should make a new resource, Titanium. Found only underseas, it's needed to make underwater combat units and high tech air units.

*The future ages, techs and wonders. I don't know why Civ3 only goes up to the modern ages. While many would say that once the modern ages are done, the game time has usually been reached anyway, I find that sort of boring. I mean, sure it's not historically correct (or is it?) but I'd like to see some high tech future stuff in Civ3. Units like the Battlewalker and wonders like the Artificial Intellegence thing which squashes unhappiness but has a chance of gaining self awareness and revolting to start it's own empire.

That's it for me. Time to get off my soapbox.

It's a fair point about the water squares. It occurs to me that pollution should be occuring on sea squares in addition to land, though obviously some thought is going to have to go into how the clean up is achieved.

Things that CTP lacks.

Game Balance (None existant)

Good Unit Graphics (Serious, CTP had ugly cartonish graphics)

Computer Players (whats computer players?)

Future stuff was poorly done. So silly that it was painful.
Same with water cities. No balance and no fun..

CTP had promise but activision killed it. CTP tried to change to
much and miserably failed. CIV 3 maybe changed to little but
still a much better game.

CTP = Overall points 1 of 10

Civ3 = Overall points 9 of 10.

But still some things could be found if you looked really hard that
was better in CTP..
