I just downloaded Opera 6.05 I don't want to touch IE again. Never. What is Microsoft doing with IE? It's like a turtle in tar pit when you compare it to this.

Have you tried Netscape 7.01? It is pretty sweet also and completely free with no ads.

Yes, but not as fast as Opera unfortunately.

With Opera 5.x I had problems displaying gifs properly, has anyone had the same problem with the new version?

I have noticed crashing problems with Java and NS 7.01. I also noticed some problems with security certificates...

I'm not ad-free with Netscape 7.01.
I don't get more ads at CFC and some other sites though, but otherwise, they show up as usual. Phoenix is better in that way, too bad it's loaded with bugs.

Bugs??? I must be lucky, since I never had any :p Phoenix or Mozilla are quite better IMO anyway... I hate ads

I love it too:)
It's faster, it takes away all pop-ups (and my time at CFC instantly gets more enjoyable;) ), it's faster to move backward and forward, I don't have to click the button back to move back, but simply pushes right+left:), I can use it as an MDI application and don't have 20 windows opened at the same time...
Downsides are that some pages cannot be viewed as they should:(

Wehn I say no ads in NS7.01 I am talking about the fact that the free version of Opera has an advertisement area in it. NS does not.

I also love opera, I installed after reading the reviews from people on this site and I havn't looked back since. It does crash every now and then (especially when I get disconnected and have to redial.) But at least when it crashes it doesn't take crash my whole sytem tray with it... unlike cetain other browsers *cough*IE*cough*

Opera has not crashed on me yet. Only problem I've found is that it does not support iNotes :(.

I use IE 6 SP2, mainly because IE is about the only browser that can display everything correctly, also because I use pop-up stopper anyways and ad-blocking software now so I can avoid ads altogether. In my very brief stint with netscape 7.01(referred by cornhead) I was still getting a few popups with pop-up stopper disabled so I decided there was no point in running NS if I still had to run popup stopper. It is still slower than IE(personal experience) and tabbed browsing doesn't suit my needs anyways.

Besides, I do free-lance web design, and it all has to display perfectly in IE in the end anyways(since so many people use it) so I might as well use it to test my work.

Discovered Opera 2 years ago, and haven't looked back! I only use IE at work (not allowed to install Opera), and to view ESPN.com at home, since it's the only website I visit that Opera screws up. The better interface, coupled with the mouse shortcuts, and the better downloading make it a far superior product. When you click to save a downloadable file, the file begins downloading before you choose a destination for it, which I realize only saves you a few seconds (unless you have to browse awhile for the destination), but I find it painful to go back to IE now. I don't even notice that ad bar, and the built-in google search bar is much better than that yahoo garbage that is built into IE. Also, Opera doesn't automatically download new toolbars every once in awhile and force me to comb through my folders to uninstall. In short, Opera is head and shoulders above IE and NS.
