Kal-Els Clean 180x180 Earth: Modder's Paradise

Good, I see more tundra and jungles. Tundra WITHOUT any kind of forest is important for stopping AI colonization in that regions.
If I were you, I would reduce hills in Europe

I have reduced the number of hills in Europe significantly from the prior version.
BTW, how do you make those screenshots?
And where do you find BMP to convert with BMPtoBIC? I'd like to make a different projection (maybe one day)
For the larger preview I:
1) remove the fog of war
2) start a new game
3) take screen shots of the whole map
4) reduce the screen shots by 50%
5) piece them all together.

the smaller preview is available with Gramphos's multitool.

Here's something that may be useful:
What am I supposed to do with those maps? Start all over! :D I don't think so. I didn't use those full earth projections. I used separate projections for each of the continents.

North America = Polyconic
South America = Lambert Equivalent Azimuthal
Europe = Bonne
Africa = Zenithal Equidistant
Asia = Bonne
Australia = Bonne

Each continent is looked at separately with its own projection which allows for the most accurate shape for each individual continent. These were then compiled into one map. As we all lnow, a flat map can not accurately portray a spherical world without some distortion. This method seems to me to give the best representation of the various land masses. And since I am more concerned with tha shape of the land and not the size of the oceans this works well for my purposes.

Funny, I didn't realize Canter was a projection. :lol:

I guess you and I have a different definition of hand made. I wasn't just guessing as to what the world looked like. Clearly I was using references. It would be silly to try to make a decent map without looking at maps.

Take a look at this compilation of images. I think you will see that the Philipines are not too far off from where they should be.

What stuff has Rhye made so I can slaughter it ;)

:p

Kal-el, you could really use snoopy's graphics ;) .
I made a copy of Kal-El's map using snoopy's new version of graphics and Wheel Gator's Tundra Forests (makes all forests with tundra underneath all-white, making it easier to know what is underneath those forests without having to cut them down, or making the forests look bare).
Disregard the starting locations, I don't know why they showed up. (Hopefully the screenshot looks like Kal-El's and not the smaller image I get when I use 'Image preview').

It's ok.
The only problem seems that at high difficulty levels reseach goes too faster, because many AIs are very close each other. Even with 400 tech rate, some civ reached middle ages in 800 BC.
I have to think about this. Maybe I'll raise again that number. Or I'll try to change time-scale

Rhye,

Did you change any of the shapes of the continents?

If you want to affect the era advancement I recommend playing the map with the DyP rules. :D

Thanks for putting resources on this pig.

Yes, I have changed some little things to fit better with starting locations and AI expansion and corrected some errors.
However I'm going to post a "beta" on the forum, so anyone who wants to test the map (not only to take a look) could give me some advice.

Where can I find are DyP rules?

The era advancement is a major problem on this map, because
-some civs have larger spaces
-european civs with no room to expand are on rich lands
So with 24 civs and difficluty level emperor they advance very quickly, reaching middle ages in 900BC.
So I set the tech rate at 500 and changed the time scale.

I'm testing it now. I don't want to release a scenario that sucks :)
If you want to help me, I would appreciate :)
