KCK Ultimate Civ III

Cross posted here.

The mod biq works fine, but not so the scenario biqs. In this, the first posting in this thread, you get to see the error message I got when I tried to start up KCKUC3 Ancient.

The mod biq --- as far as I can tell on my Mac --- finds the pertinent file no problem. However, the Ancient biq goes looking for the file in the wrong place. I could move the file in question from Civilization 3 Game Data to Conquests Game Data, but that wouldn't solve the problem for others. The Ancient biq needs to be looked at and such errors corrected.

The pertinent tech PCXs are found in Civilization 3 Complete Game Data/Art/Tech Chooser/Icon folder, not the Conquests Game Data/Art/Tech Chooser/Icon one.

Correction: Got the error message wrong --- my mistake, my apologies. The Ancient Biq looks for the TECH_Burial-Rites entry in the wrong Ped.txt. Of course there is no TECH_Burial_Rites entry in the Conquests Game Data Ped.txt, that was created for mods created after Conquests was released.

Additional Note: The KCK Ultimate mod biq is the only one I've run across that finds files in other locations than the mod folder with no problems. I don't know how it does it, but maybe other mod designers could try what KCK did. :hint:

Remember what I said about the KCKUltimate Ancient biq above? It also applies to ...

AncientLTD
Future
Industrial
IndustrialLTD
Medevil
MedevilLTD
Modern
ModernLTD

(Yes, I checked them all out, I'm proud of me. :) )

My recommendations is to remove the scenarios from distribution until the BIQs can be proofed and corrected. The PED.txt you want to reference is the KCKUltimate one, wherever the BIQ references the Conquests PediaIcon change it to the KCKUltimate PediaIcon.

(Shortens this thread, don't it? )
