Keep stack attack back, and opportunity fire.

1 unit by hex sucks...

Why not 3 or 5 Units per Hex ? could increse with special Tech like "Logistics" ?

General able to form an army With 3 ( or +) war units with special Tech "Moral" ?

At least Maybe 1 Mov for foot unit could be enough, to let us time to prepare counter attack ?

Embarking ability sucks...

What do you think about that ?

I think that you are now talking about making a change that would have to come in an expansion pack. Too large for a simple patch. It would not be the game they intended.

Or a mod.

But the main thing I'd be wondering is what you gain from having 3 or 5 units in a hex? "I don't like it" is all well and good, but frankly I wonder if you've actually thought through the consequences of it.

For instance, if you're more powerful because of a stack, then the stack becomes the default unit of combat. This means you need to build stacks, not individual units. The AI needs to build the right stacks. And that means that either you'll have a world with just a couple stacks moving around or you need to have much faster unit construction/much lower unit maintenance. And THAT means that you've effectively got 1UPT right back, except this time the "unit" is just a squad of 3 or 5 units.

It worked in Civ IV because they didn't want to have tactical, interesting combat, and I don't mean that as an insult. Combat in prior civ games was a test of your relative economies. It measures how well you did the other stuff. That means that unlimited stacks just lets your economy contribute as many military units to combat as you can build. Unlimited stacks aren't just an extreme; they're actually essential to the Civ IV model of warfare.

Tactical combat is a focus of Civ V, so abolishing it in Civ V via patch or mod is just not a workable solution. It would be a complete change to everything about Civ V. And the partial solutions (limited stacking) are just 1UPT with more inconvenience built in.

First moving a lot of units one by one is annoying.

The military Unit you build one by one could be assembled in a stack.

A stack is not more powerful than each unit separated.

Only if you add a general and form an Army, That's the concept of an Army.

An Army is more powerfull than a stack, and separated unit.

Note that the concept has existed in Civ3... (1General+3Units=1Army)

I want Civ4 DCM Mod = stack attack, oportunity fire + General could make an Army with 3 or 5 units assembled.

With a Tech like "Logistics1" 3 units Stack => "Logistics2" 5 units Stack in an army.

No Unit stacking sucks when

-you cant move (when in peace + open border) because there's a few unit behind you, (workers, or else..)

-war units movments are very limited, cant back damaged units, and neither moove fresh units to the front.

-embarking ability sucks too, settler & war units go splash to the sea, and then here we are...
what a very stupid idea.

-why cant we stack workers ?

-get back the stacks ! and the army concept !

And one more,

-city bombard ability sucks too, its more realistic and fun that units stacking in the city have range bombard ability, not the city itself...

Civ 5 war concept is inept !

Civ 5 is a console game made for...
We want a game for pc and adult gamers.

Seems like some people are having a smilar idea, a slow increase of stack limit in a tile with techs, policies etc.

I would add to that with the idea of giving a size attribute to each unit. If your stack limit is 3 (say), you could stack 3 units of size 1, or 1 unit of size 2 and 1 of size 1, or 3 units of size 1.

If the size of the unit is higher than the current stack limit, the unit could still move into the tile (if no other units are there) but it would use up all its movement points to do so.

One word: Legions. (Allows you to stack infinitely.)

And I agree on the No Stack Attack. That was a really really boring feature.

I like that there's no stack attack. The civ4 "stack of doom" makes the game much less fun IMO. If they were to bring in "logistics" or something similar, i would suggest it be done in a mod and not as a fundamental change to civ5.

Thats what i say, Civ5 was made for Console, not for PC, for teenies and familly, not for "adults".

The game itself will not evoluate on this rule.

But a good guy modder will probably do for Civ5 what have be done for Civ4, like Dale's Combat mod, Revolution Mod and others, that make Civ really intersting to play.

The question is could the Civ5 AI be adapted to this ?

I want to say again, Embarkation ability sucks, is there a way to skweeze that and keep back settler_sea, and Cargo Domain_land ?

I now know why we cant play Civ4 after installing Civ5 !

Because Civ5 sucks.

All the people want to switch back to Civ4.

Me at first !!
