Key civ

I have just downloaded this gotm and I hope that I will have the time to finish it this month!
I have notished that there is no purple civ.Which is the key-civ in this case?

IIRC, If there is no purple Civ and your power rating is supreme, then your science will take the longest possible time to complete.

I think that's part of the reason why so many people are playing this GOTM as a quick conquest (besides the map (again )).

You could always try and play the game while not being the supreme player because that will change your key civ and then you can use the gifting science trick.

What do you mean by gifting science trick?

The gifting science trick is:

The game checks your tech level to that of your keyciv. If your tech levels are at about the same level, the game allows you to research your techs faster (say 7 turns instead of 10). So, what you do is gift your techs to your keyciv once you have them beat down to one city (or however you feel comfortable that they won't be able to use your techs against you) and that allows you to research yout new techs faster.

Since the human player is usually in the 'supreme' power position, you can also just play your games as the purple player and not have to worry about it.
