I'm wondering about the specific letters that u can do cause of ur country...i have the french keyboard azerty
i know that an english friend can't do
ù(spanish)
°(scandinavian)
~ñ(spanish)
ç(french)i don't know if he can do §,à,¤ `
What about u?i'm especially wondering about those who live in a country where a non-latin writing is used.

Well with my Scandinavian keyboard there are a few special letters like:

Æ æ
Ø ø
Å å

And a few letter that we don't use in Scandinavia:

ñ Ñ
Ú ú
Ù ù

There are probably a few more that I can make but I don't want to sit here and test it....

You can find such characters: ÎÒÕæÕýµØϲ»¶Öйú´ÊÒ²ÊÇ¡£²»×öÄãÂð
私は日本の単語を好む
by type alt+something. It's not too difficult to learn them by heart.

All I get are a bunch of Japanese characters every time you guys use special characters. By the way, GK--$B$I$&$7$FF|K\8lJ,$+$j$^$9$+!#$2$s$.$9OB$OF|K\?M$G$o$J$$$G$7$g$&$+!#(B

I've got some program or switcher or whatever that lets me switch to Swedish, with all its strange letters, to use for translations. Don't really know how to use it though, but it acts as a deterent

BTW, on the subject of keyboards, I still chuckle when I remember what the Clintonistas did when they were leaving the White House- took all the "W" keys off the keyboards.

Using ASCII codes (whatever that means, exactly), I can type a number of characters that don't appear on a standard American keyboard.

"Hwæt! We Gar-Dena in gear-dagum,
þeod-cyninga, þrym gefrunon,
hu ða æþelingas ellen fremedon!"

¿Por qué yo estoy escribir en español? ¡No hablo ese idioma!

Now back to our originally scheduled thread.

Well, I was sucked in by the stroy about the removal of the "W" keys, but if you say it didn't happen, then so be it. I didn't make it up, I just passed on what I thought was true and amusing. But enough of that.

I always had the feeling that you were an affecionado of Olde English, Loaf Warden.
I can only understand a few words of the passage, however, Care to give a translation?
The only Old English I can remember is:
(this is probably going to be butchered, both by my bad memory and my normal keyboard)

Ce cyniga lufath thone cywenin.

It was the opening passage of Beowulf. The translation given in my copy is:

"Listen! We have heard of the glory of the Spear-Danes
in the old days, the kings of tribes--
how noble princes showed great courage!"

I cannot attest to the word-for-word accuracy of that translation, having only yet learned very little Old English myself. But some day.

Okay, screw this keyboard today...<IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/mad.gif" border=0> Anyway, how many kanji are you at? I'm only at 300 or so; I've been a lazy boy <IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/ubb/spanking.gif" border=0>

And GK: are you kidding, you don't understand? How did you write a sentence in Japanese in the first place? (granted, it was a strange sentence)

Ž„‚Í’m‚ç‚È‚¢

The result is quite random 007. Sometimes it works, sometimes it prints "europeanised" characters like yours. Really I don't know. I just copy paste what I type in a word processing software and I pray for it to print properly here. Don't if this will work this time. I try again.

Ahh, wakarimashita. That's a neat program. Your last sentence was correct btw: "I don't know." So was your first one. I just thought it sounded a bit strange because it said "I like Japanese words" rather than japanese "characters," which is probably what you meant. But that's not a grammatical mistake.
