Doctor Who is coming back to BBC One in 2005. It will be a new live-action series, written by Russell T Davies.

Lorraine Heggessey, Controller of BBC One, has confirmed that all rights issues regarding Doctor Who have been resolved and has green-lit scripts from writer Russell T Davies. The statement notes that it is far too early in the day to discuss possible storylines, characters, villains or who might play the Doctor. It also states that it is unlikely anything will be on screen for at least two years. Since when is that going to stop us? Anyone want to discuss possible storylines, characters, villains or who might play the Doctor? My choice would be either Alan Davies or Richard Coyle.

Rock on! I loved watching Dr. Who in my teen years. Its quirkyness was the reason I liked it. Hopefully it'll hold some of the same qualities from the old series.

Unfortunately, they are likely to ruin it by "bringing it up to date for today's youth".

Then again, I could just be old and bitter :D

I worry it will be ruined (after all the guy doing the scripts wrote 'Queer as folk' so I will reserve judgement.
