Korean politics- sad journey of one Yoon bug

Count your blessings.

There are far worse qualities that a President may have: e.g. maliciousness and competence
For a leader it is worse to have someone who is hardworking but incompetent ( The Stupid and Industrious as people would say)... and that is worst trait any leader could have... Think about moronic bosses who like to create meaningless jobs thinking that he is doing something while in reality he is just making crap up. People actually want Yoon bug to do nothing but well
Seems like a competent one tbh.
not really. I don't know where you got that info but many Koreans do NOT think economy in Korea is good. In fact they will say it is bad... which is why at the moment Yoon's support is 30% while disapproval rate is 60%. And that is second reason why people hate Yoon ( no. 1 being issues of his personal appointment... which is almost bad as ones Warren Harding did in US)

i think you are just progressive and hate him because he's conservative.
everyone thinks their own economy is bad since we are in an economic downturn anyway.
since growth =/= being in a good state. it only implies moving into a better state.
imagine corona years. industry freezed. massive $ put into corona things. broken logistic chains.
and the person you are talking about is no joke. seoul national university = not stupid anyway.
you are showing an expectation from IMF while I was showing reality.
reality is unexpected anyway, somehow, beated your source of expectation 0.4%.
evidences showing that he is fixing thing with result beyond expectation.
try to believe in him mate.

Even conservatives hate him. Heck he is losing support in TK ( Daegyeong Area) that is like US Republican president losing support in areas like Mississippi and Alabama. TK area in Korea is one of dead hard conservative areas in S.Korea... and he is unpopular in there. Most conservative young males in 20's~30's hate him because of troubles he has with the party leader Lee Jun-seok. He was key in gaining male 20's and 30's support away from Democratic Party and now... Yoon basically killed his political life.
edit: coming just now that even 30% line has been broken
Pro being 28% and Nay being 62%
Yoon is officially in Lameduck goverment now! LOLZ!
https://www.joongang.co.kr/article/25090709#home
and it is done by official poll company called Gallup Korea and Gallup is one of most conservative poll group so even in Gallup to show this result...
Yoon bug isn't even into 100 day yet! WHAT A JOKE!

This video pretty much summarizes People's Power party and Yoon bug right now:
0:19: approval stopped dropping at 30% in a row between 10th of July~24th of July
Yoon: :)
0:20: first 28% approval rate
Yoon: NO PLEASE!!!!

like I have said on the other thread his approval rating fell YET AGAIN! 24% now and disapproval rate increased to 66%
Man everyday this bug is rewritting history! Soon his approval rating will fall to 19% can't wait!

Tbf, Kupe, it is extremely unlikely that many regular posters in OT pay much attention to Korean politics. So I am not sure how much discussion there can beI
I would like to pay attention if was something I know it better. But is cool to have it's knowledge, still posting.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol denies US insult caught on hot mic

South Korea's President Yoon Suk-yeol has denied insulting US Congress in remarks made after meeting US President Joe Biden last week in New York.
He was caught on a hot mic and seen on camera seemingly calling US lawmakers a Korean word that can be translated as "idiots" or something much stronger.
The footage quickly went viral in South Korea.
But his spokeswoman says he had "no reason to talk about the US or utter the word 'Biden'".
The remark is said to have occurred as part of a conversation about Mr Biden's drive to increase the US contribution to a global initiative known as the Global Fund, which would require congressional approval.
"How could Biden not lose face if these [expletive] do not pass it in Congress?," Mr Yoon apparently said to his aides afterwards.

Presidential spokeswoman Kim Eun-hye said in New York on Thursday Mr Yoon did not actually say "Biden", but a similar-sounding Korean word, and that he was referring to the South Korean parliament, not the US Congress.
Many were unconvinced by the government's defence - an opposition MP said it was like telling Koreans they were "hearing impaired".

Mr Yoon is a former prosecutor who only entered politics last year and won the presidential elections earlier this year by less than 1%.
He is known as being prone to gaffes and has been struggling with low approval ratings soon after being elected, correspondents say.
He also drew criticism for failing to attend the Queen's lying-in-state on his first day in London, for which his office blamed traffic issues.
Last year, he had to backtrack on his comment that the authoritarian president Chun Doo-hwan, who was responsible for massacring protesters in 1980, was "good at politics".
