normally I would ask this kind of question to the KOTOR II forums or the company, but after trying that and getting no response I have been beaten back to here as my last hope....

okay recently I bought Knights of the Old Republic 2 and installed it, however it wasnt working so I tried to uninstall it, didnt work

I was then advised to try uninstalling it manually, did a search, deleted all game files I could find, deleted it from my start menu and deleted the icon

now when I tried to install it agian it seems to think I still have it installed, another search brings up nothing...

any ideas how to get it totally off my computer?

first go to add/remove programs in the control panel, and find the game and remove it through there. then go to Program Files directory on your C: hard drive and press shift-delete with the Lucas Arts folder selected (be careful what you delete)

that technically should remove most of it

alright I deleted it all and it worked

however, reinstalled it and it refuses to play, check my details and it gave me all checkmarks

what I do is click on it and tell it to start, nothing happens, left it for two hours and then came back, still nothing

I then turned off the computer and while shutting down it had to close KOTOR II despite never starting it up

Just a question, do you have Folding@Home running while trying to play it?

not that i know of....

name sounds familiar but i dont imagine i'd have it running

uh huh.... so it would have nothing to do with anything?

Absolutely nothing - in fact the worst it seems to do to me was stop the games from starting up, which has nothing to do with your problem. I was just commenting on D.Highland's post.

On topic then - I take it you've tried googling and searching KOTOR websites, particularly ones that have technical help forums? I've had remarkable success in solving game problems through random searches.

yep... i got the game a month ago, asked them the same problems and got nothing

finally during a moment of boredom i found the disk and decided that its stupid to throw $30 down the toilet...

sadly enough I havent gotten a reply yet from anyone at their own forums

It's an odd issue, and Folding@Home is known to cause problems with some games (Hence my first post).

Anyways, are you sure your graphic settings are correct?

should be...

it also said all my system stuff would work, ran a check and it gave me all greens

Here's another thing you should try:

Reinstall the game without a firewall. And try to play it without a firewall.

That goes for AntiVirus too.

It's happened to me before. (Specifically KOTOR I, but might be same issue)

sadly enough i've already done that....

it was messing up another game i had

alright.... I asked the yodas help desk and got a reply saying

This error occurs when there is a conflict with the copy protection for the
program and some disk emulation software installed and active on your system.
You should temporarily disable any CD drive emulation software.(Alcohol 120%,
CloneCD, Nero, Daemon Tools) The program will not run with emulation software
running. Please turn off any emulation software (unmount any virtual drives) and
restart the system, then run the program.

however I have no clue how to do anything when it comes to that.... little help with translation? or even how I do that?

If you have no clue what disk emulation software is, you probably don't have any installed. That doesn't mean it still couldn't be a copy protection issue.

well, im gonna assumed that you bought this game, so i dont know why it would say that about the error message. first shut off all of the firewalls and crap, then go to Start Menu-->Run... then type there MSCONFIG. learn this program before you ever apply the settings though, cause it could really screw up your computer if you use it wrong.

yep....

and with the MSCONFIG I cant find anything that looks like I should turn it off... turns out I dont have nero

Hmm, try doing ALT - CTRL - DLT, and then go to Processes. Shut down all the processes which are programs (ONLY PROGRAMS). Try it then.

alright... how can you tell the difference between programs and other?
