Almost every game I have played in BtS thus far, has blessed me with horrible land. Three out of my last five games have been completely devoid of copper or iron, anywhere NEAR my capital. In my current game, playing as Ghandi, I have six cities down, and even if I encircled my empire with another layer of cities, I'd still have no access to horses, copper, Ivory, or Iron.

Well, I'm getting drubbed. How on earth is one supposed to compete with fleets of Prat's pouring over border's without copper or Iron? What do you guys do?

This is really getting unnerving. It ruffles my feathers to have...a dozen cities down, and see a civilization of half the size on the opposite side of the continent have MORE FISH, or MORE SUGAR, then I have entire resources. All of these games, I have no trading power until I get all the Hit's.

Fall back and punt? You might have an abundance of advanced resources (Uranium, Oil, Coal, ect.) hidden from view. You also have a small chance of finding Iron/Copper/ect. from mines. WOn't help you with the Prats, though....

Regenerate the map? Some like to do that when put in that situation.

(advanced game player, right here! tough to get there in the first place, though....)

What size map is it? And more importantly, how many tiles away is the nearest copper or iron? Just curious, at least on Hemispheres I've rarely been without copper or iron that is not within 15 tiles from my capital. My second/third city is usually meant for getting that copper even if the city is in a sub-par/horrible location.

There's no telling what's there at the point when you can regenerate the map though. I don't know what copper or iron, or oil is where. Which are unequivicolly the most important resources in the game. Without them, you are at the mercy of every melee unit in the game. B-lining for Feudalism still makes you dead.

And when oil comes around, if you don't have oil, you'll be dominated from the air.
