Laptop mouse/keyboard freezes

Okay, I'm running a "bad" HP laptop and by bad I mean cheap. Like ~$600-$700 dollars. It's got Windows 7 and Civ 4 BTS.

For some reason, the mouse and keyboard kept freezing up for no reason. I found that I could fix this glitch by forcing the laptop to sleep, or shutting it down. These problems have stopped now, with the exception of when I play Civ 4. It keeps randomly freezing. And when the keyboard freezes, the game keeps going, I just can't move the mouse or input into the keyboard. It used to do this in the middle of my turn, but now it is doing it on load.

This is making the game impossible to play. Please, someone help me.

Well do you have any other games installed, and do those work?

I have really no idea what you could look for if the problem only appeared in civ4. Maybe turn on the Logging system in the config file and then look at the Logs, it might give you some hints on what's up, but it might as well tell you nothing useful.

If other Games misbehave too then you could try reinstalling windows & everything else. But it could be that something is messed up in the hardware of your system, not really anything you can do to fix it in that case
