Why did they remake the excellent original movie? This looks like garbage.

The original cast were all great actors too, and stars. Connery, Redgrave, Bacall, Finney, Perkins, Gielgud, Bergman, Bisset. How do you follow this with such a stupid cast and film :shake:

And the new film's Poirot's mustache is just dumb

Hmm. I didn't know Michael York was in the first one. I'll have to watch it some time.

As for the remake, I noticed that Kenneth Branagh and Derek Jacobi are in the cast. That's reason enough twice over to watch it, for me. I'm curious to see if Branagh can do anything other than Shakespeare.

I saw the original years agp, which was made all the more interesting because I didn't know the twist back then.

Branagh's moustache does look ridiculous, but it'll be interesting to see how he does it. For many people, David Suchet is the only Poirot. :)

Suchet is the more iconic one, and i like him a lot too (actually, i mistook him for Finney, cause they look alike  ) but Finney was in the best film ever of Poirot :)

...and Harry Potter...and National Treasure.
I don't do Harry Potter, and am coming up blank on the other.

I measure Branagh by how well his performance stacks up against Henry V and Much Ado About Nothing.

Even my grandmother enjoyed Henry V, and that was the first time she'd ever seen a Shakespeare movie.

In National Treasure, Nicolas Cage has to steal the U.S. Declaration of Independence because there's a treasure map, in invisible ink, on the back. Branagh is the bad guy.

I say fie, fie on his performance. When you see in one movie that many performers turning in that many great acting jobs, you must give credit to the director, who is [wait for it] Kenneth Branagh. :worship:

Which movie - Much Ado About Nothing? Or the other one?

Personally, I think he does a better job in Henry V. But then that was a much more complicated movie, and didn't suffer from Keanu Reeves' cardboard performance as Don John.

I just find Much Ado to be a really fun movie. And another fun fact is that it's the only movie I've ever seen Denzel Washington in. I don't have a clue what he's like in other movies. I just know that I enjoy his performance in this one.

Nope. I might watch it on DVD.

Sean Bean is the bad guy in the first one (the one with the Declaration of Independence).

Ed Harris is the bad guy in the second (with the book that proves all conspiracy theories are true. Also we built Mt. Rushmore to cover up El Dorado. Also also maybe John Wilkes Booth wasn’t such a bad guy after all).

Branagh was in Dunkirk. He was aight.

Also I don’t know how on Earth you two can have an exchange about Branagh for this long and not mention Hamlet, easily the best of the trio of Branagh Shakespeare adaptations worth talking about).
